I'm getting rid of the bob shape tonight. I think.

That’s the current plan anyway.

I’ve been trying to grow it out for some time now and the bob shape is simply overgrown and doesn’t look good at this length. And if there’s one thing I can’t stand, it’s not having great hair. So we’re reshaping it today after work.

I’m SCARED. I’ve had variations on the same hairstyle for over 10 years. Probably close to 11 or 12. And I’ve kept it so long cause I know it looks good. I’m freaking out a little it will not be nearly as fabulous.

That's part of why I'm freaking out. My stylist said he's putting layers in. I can't picture how it's gonna turn out at all. I've been looking up pictures online to get ideas, but nothing really fits my style and length.

Don't do anything you don't wanna do. I hate when stylists take over and just do whatever, without ever really consulting a client. I say that because you said "my stylist said he's putting layers in it". Well, okay, if you talked about that, then all's good. But a bob doesn't have layers; not a proper "bob" haircut. A layered bob haircut is a bit different, in look, style, etc, of course.

I actually thought you still had a bob until I saw your Snuggie pictures and saw that it was grown out a bit. Be careful that the bob isn't too harsh. There are about 7 different types of face shapes, and a bob can make some faces look more round, or even pudgy. It's all about balance of course.

Ahh, the days of perms.

Don't freak out if you don't immediately like your new 'do. It will be a big change, so allow yourself some time to adjust. And I think getting layers is always scary - I barely let my stylist add them because I don't like them - but based on the photo it looks like they will be really long, so shouldn't be too scary.

And my stylist has been one of my best friends for about 14 years, so he's allowed to take over sometimes. I trust him in that aspect. I just get really nervous.
