PrintableDidn't you research what all was entailed in having a pup? 
People always go for the puppies when they could adopt an older (still young) dog. 1-3 year old dogs are still young dogs and usually already house trained. Sorry you're having a hard time. If you don't plan on keeping it you should make a decision before it's completely attached to your family and your environment. 
If you do proper training it will get better, but you have to invest time and be consistent. It won't just come. [Edited 12/12/09 21:15pm] | |

 The only time we had puppies was not by choice. One of the dogs we adopted had 13 puppies in our bathroom  and of course we had to keep 2.

take it to the shelter and tell them you are leaving the country or something
then tell the kids it ran away or not | |

You will get all kinds of good things out of pet ownership, absolutely, but it's a full-time investment for years. 10 years from now you will need to find a sitter so you can go on vacation. Buying a puppy isn't somethign to enter into lightly, it's a commitment.
Goofy pet owners dressing their dogs in little outfits and pushing them around in strollers aside, having a dog REALLY IS like having another child. It's like having a new born in the house. It's really starting to frustrate me to the point where I'm deeply regretting it. I feel liked I'm trapped by this animal. He's gets a lot of love, when we have time. He always has a full tummy and has lots of chew toys. We have a huge backyard for the dog to run around. I thought, this won't be so bad. WRONG! 
Someone please tell me its going to better? We have a new puppy too! She's 12 and a half weeks, and it can definitely be trying at times.
