Ex-Moderator | I did it! In the now famous tradition, made popular by one of fabulous moderators, Matt, I'd like to announce:
I got my nipples pierced today!! It really, really hurt. But they're sooo cute. However, unlike Matt, I will not be posting a pic. Sorry folks. |

Carrie! That's so great. I'm so happy for you, esp. for the fact that you're so happy with them.
I bet they look fantastic! I mean, like, where is the sun?

Ex-Moderator | Thank you, thank you.
It was quite the experience. 3 of my girlfriends came with me (I needed a hand to hold!). It was funny. After I filled out the paperwork and presented my ID and everything I walked back to pick out jewelry and the piercer started going through the form, took one look at me (still clothed, mind you) and said, well, are you a D or double D? Probably one of the only times a man can say that without my taking offense. (For the record, I'm only a C. I bet he says that to all the girls...) As for why? Just for fun. And it looks cute. I haven't done anything drastic like this in awhile, and it was time. |

Congratulations on your new piercing. You have my admiration, as you're braver than I.
I've been considering getting my bellybutton pierced but haven't yet gotten up the courage to actually do it.

Ex-Moderator | AnotherLover2 said: Does the size of the breast make a difference in how he goes about piercing them? The size of your nipple determines what size jewelry you'll use. When its first done, you need to leave plenty of room to swell and heal. He brought a couple different sized rings back once we were in the piercing room to determine the best size to use. |

when they become a double d (thanks 2 gravity) - be careful not to let them hit the floor and start sparking

Congrats Carrie! Those are my all time favorite piercings! The healing time can be rough though, be patient and clean, clean, clean!!!
The WORST part is when some of the gunk actually gets INSIDE the piecing while you're cleaning, omg that fucking hurts...

Dansa if you got tats, you can do this! It is a little more painful, I guess, but the duration is a lot shorter!

Absolutely! I've got one tattoo, and that was defintiely more of an ordeal than this. Although I will say, the first one was OK. Of course it hurt, but it was bearable. The second one was AWFUL! I actually screamed out loud. AAAUUUHHHAAA! Like that. violett (who came in and held my hand) had an interesting observation. She watched the whole thing and it goes through such a thick part of flesh that she'd see it go in and feel me squeeze her hand HARD before she even saw it go out the other side... |

I was just gonna reply and say that I was the one actually holding your hand thru the experience.. but I guess that isn't neccesary now
I was watching to make sure that the dude was hitting his marks! Which he did. I was impressed with his professionalism. vi

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

New piercings should be cleaned thoroughly twice a day.
Using a mild, low pH antibacterial soap; Lather the piercing and move the jewelry back and forth through the piercing until it slides freely. Rinse the piercing thoroughly under warm running water; working the jewelry back and forth making sure all traces of soap are removed (until you start to feel resistance.) During the healing process, matter secreted from the piercing will dry on the jewelry and around the opening of the piercing. Use warm water to rinse this secretion off the jewelry and piercing before cleaning. New piercings, especially nipple piercings, should not be subjected to heavy abuse during healing period. Tongue, lip and cheek piercings, Brush teeth twice a day; rinse with Listerine after eating, drinking or smoking. To aid in the healing process of the tongue piercing you may use Gly Oxide twice a day on the piercing. Oral or sexual contact should be avoided until piercings are healed. Although genital piercings do not prohibit sex during the healing process, men should wear a prophylactic during intercourse to minimize the risk of infection. Tight, restrictive clothing should be avoided. Lace and other materials on which piercings could get caught should also be avoided. Nipple piercings were once considered a sign of strength, virility and endurance. The natives of central America once pierced their nipples as a mark of the transition to manhood. The honour guard of the Roman Ceasars would also pierce their nipples to show their strength and duty to protect their emperor.
It was said that it was their nipple jewellery that held their cloaks in place! In the 1890’s it was all the rage for Victorian women to pierce their nipple with jewellery sold by the famous jewellers of Paris. Some even had both nipples pierced and hung silver chains from one to the other. Now in the new millennium, it is becoming far more common. Nipple piercings can be positioned horizontally or vertically. Rings are usually chosen as the initial jewelry in horizontal piercings because they can be cleaned more easily than barbells. The inside diameter of the ring should be approximately 1/4" wider than the length of the piercing. No more than 1/4 of the ring should be through the piercing. A ring which is too small in diameter will constrict the piercing and cause the entrances of the piercing to migrate to conform to the tight curvature of the ring. It is not uncommon for the nipple to swell or actually grow in size during the healing process; the ring should be wide enough to accommodate expected growth. After the piercing has completely healed a smaller diameter ring can be worn. Straight and curved barbells are used for vertical piercings. Barbells may be more appropriate than rings for horizontal piercings if the wearer engages in contact sports or daily physical activities that involve lifting and carrying. The barbell should be at least 1/8" longer than the width of the piercing to facilitate cleaning and allow for swelling. The barbell balls should be small enough in diameter so that they do not create pressure against the areola, which can cause the piercing to migrate forward. Piercings of flat or inverted nipples may be more successful when slightly curved barbells are worn. If the nipple does not protrude from the areola a slightly curved barbell will eliminate pressure between the barbell balls and the areola. While in some cases piercing inverted or flat nipples causes the nipples to develop and enlarge, such results are not guaranteed. Piercings in flat or inverted nipples have an increased risk of migration or rejection. Jewelry which is too thin is more easily rejected by the body and more likely to tear the piercing with strenuous play. For most people 14 or 12 gauge is appropriate. Larger gauge piercings can comfortably withstand strenuous play. Sensation and stimulation usually increase when larger gauges are worn. Damn I just triple posted that message. My browser went crazy for a minute. I will go back and edit each post to something a little interesting. Okay I posted nipple piercing related info. Still not sure what happened. It kept freezing after I hit post so I would go back and try again, but evidently they were going through.

Rinse the piercing thoroughly under warm running water; working the jewelry back and forth making sure all traces of soap are removed (until you start to feel resistance.) @ triple post! Instead of anti-bacterial soap, I'm trying the new sea-salt method. It's supposed to be much more gentle, yet just as cleansing as the old way. And it's hysterical! My instructions are to take 2 coffee mugs and fill them with 8 ounces of warm water. Mix in 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt to make a saline (which makes it a .9% solution, which is what is naturally found in our bodies). Lower myself into the cups, enough to create a suction effect, then tilt back up and hold the cups there for 5-10 minutes. The piercer was sure to warn me to make sure no one could walk in on me while doing this as I'd look like an idiot. Then clean the "crusties" off with a Q-tip. I was told NOT to touch the jewelry while it's healing, that turning it back and forth only agitates the process. As long as I'm cleaning twice a day, it will be fine. Considering it took a year for my navel to heal and I was doing the soap thing, I'm excited to see if this way works any better. |
