I used to love watching it when I was younger. Bernice was a riot. They started showing it again on TV Land, but for some reason I couldn't really get back into watching it.
They should've stuck Anthony in that pic. lol looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)

Shut up! I STILL quote that show constantly in daily life . . . yes, I am really a gay man. Naked is when you ain't got no clothes on . . nekkid is when you ain't go no clothes on and you doing sumthin dirty. - Julia and Suzanne's crazy half-brother I loved the fact that they created a new image of "Southern Belles" and that they were actually a lot like many of the white and black women I grew up knowing, especially that Julia. Very steel magnolia-ish, another movie I quote daily. Yes, I know . . . I created DVDs of the show and watch it occasionally.

Loved that show. It pulled no punches in taking on certain important issues of the day. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

Very much so. LAwd I still can't watch the one where Charlene's friend is getting beat by her husband without weeping. Off the top of my head I also remember one about AIDS (was it a friend of Maryjo's? that was sick?) and mental illness (Suzanne and Julia's brother) "We don't hide our crazies in the south, we sit them out on the front porch for everyone to see!" (or something like that).

One of my favorite television casts. Dixie and Delta were really good. Worth getting on DVD. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

I LOVE the way the show was written...some of those damn quotes! ...plus you know Julia Sugarbaker is my hero, and don't even get me started on Steel Magnolias, Chile In other news, I normally keep my celeb encounters on the hush hush, but this one I have to give up: I have had the extraordinary pleasure of spending time in the company of Dixie Carter and I swear the woman is an absolute goddess. Much more soft spoken than her Julia Sugarbaker counterpart, but just incredibly multi-dimesional, spiritually enlightened, graceful, and completely stunning in every way.....and thin! She has good taste in shoes, too... Miss Dixie is never without a heel on unless she has yoga; and okay, how come on top of everything else she's a yoga master? I lubs her. Such fierceness

Such fierceness Girl, you late, I used to have her yoga tape. Regarding the AIDS episode I believe they were the first sitcom to deal with the issue. And it was another decorator who had it and came to them to design his funeral with a New Orleans theme. Then they had a ignant customer in the office who said that "As far as I'm concerned the best thing this disease has going for it is that it's killing all the right people." Then Julia told that bitch: "If God was handing out diseases for sinning (or something) you'd be at the free clinic ALL time!" I love her, but of course Delta is my bitch with her Elizabeth Taylor lookin' ass! My favorite episodes are "They Shoot Fat People Don't They?" which she was nominated for an Emmy and of course the ep when her Anthony had to share a motel room when they got caught in a snowstorm. That was the turning point in their relationship. I am sooooo Suzanne Sugarbaker . . . Don't EVEN go there, ya'll!

The one with the domestic abuse with Charlene's cousin: that's "The Rowdy Girls" episode But honey, you know the AIDS show is my episode.I have had to cuss many a person off their religious high horse about AIDS and sexual protection through the years and Julia Sugarbaker has always served as my favorite archtype bar none sorry the playback is so crappy here but I had to post it:

I love Julia Sugarbaker ya'll
Call me crazy, but everything about that woman reminds me of those sassy 1940s starlets,,,,her look, her mannerism, everything about her seem right from the "golden age of Hollywood". And also, you could tell she studied Katharine Hepburn,,,,esp when it comes to those icey lashes @ Ottensen & Cynda. Ya'll are making a bitch cackle something fierce [Edited 12/17/09 10:16am]

And I'll do anything for my dogs just like Suzanne would for her pig Noel. Remember the episode when the snooty Mcsnoots from the Beaumont driving club ran into Suzanne somewhere and she tried to act like Noel wasn't hers? And she told Julia an nem: "And Noel gave me a look as if to say, 'Oh no you di'int ack like you don't know me heffa!'" (paraphrasing of course)

I can't stand him I loved him he alway had the best lines. Like when the Beaumont Driving Club snooty Mcsnoots made fun of his last name being Bouvier and snidely asked him if he was related to Jackie an nem and he said, "Why yes . . . " and proceeded to give a rundown of where the Bouvier clan was and that he'd let Jackie know that the "little people still care." He really worked that role from just being a delivery boy to really giving some great comedic performances with class cuz that coulda been a very fine line.
