Sports-talk radio's announcing it too.

AI had his flaws, but he was a great player and a first-ballot HOFamer, IMO. Dude had the heart of a lion - took the 2000-01 Sixers to the Finals and gave the mighty Lakers their only loss in the playoffs.

Ok..I hear it now on the sport talk station here in Philly..the host on this station never liked A.I. so he's just ripping him..he's literally been waiting for this day for years..Iverson had his flaws on and off the court, but he was a great player.A caller just made a good point,if a team calls him with a starting spot,he'll be back on the court. His ego wont let him come off the bench,he'd rather retire...dayum!!

He'll never be recognized as one of the greats. Kinda like Dominique Wilkins and Alex English. Great scorers, just never considered great players.

'Nique can't be lumped in with someone like AI. I consider him a great player, despite never winning a ring. no no no!

I may be biased being a Hawks fan though, and him being my favourite all time player. lol

Oh I considered Nique a great player, it's just that most don't. He and English were both left off the NBA 50th anniversary team despite at the time they were both in the top 5 in all time scoring.

There were rumors in the Boston Herald that he was supposed to sign with the celtics. Hope not

Hey, I said he was a good player. In the sense that he was very proficient at many of the skills required in basketball. lol

It's time. If he can't accept a backup role, he shouldn't play anymore. Maybe he can go over to Europe.

And I may be biased being here in Philly..our view of him here maybe be different than elsewhere..I agree with the Wilkins and English comparison..Bernard King even..but A.I. did take a team on his back to the Finals...

Have you ever played basketball with an Englishmen or a Canadian? (outside of steve nash) when I was in college we played a friendly international tournament with a team from Mexico, Canada, and some English. It was how can I describe this kindly,,, You know how Elaine from Seinfield does that dance thats so horrible but you can't take your eyes off of it? Thats how I would describe Canadian and English Basketball. lol

I had to hurry and email that article to my daughter. That's a shame. I loved him. But when he played here in Philly for the Sixers the press and city gave him such a hard way to go. Good luck A.I., sure gonna miss you. sad

Bye-bye, Bubbachuck! I've always enjoyed watching him and rooting for him.

As great as he was in football, I think he made the right choice to play basketball.
