I've already started committing to my resolution, which is to lose 3 dress sizes. My beginning goal to achieve that is to start working out at least 4 days a week for 30 min...which I started last week. I've followed through with this goal, so my goal for this week is to workout 4 days a week for 45 min. Then next week will be an hour for 4 days a week. The week after that will be to add an extra day to total working out 5 days a week. I'm going in baby steps, then hopefully I will start to see a difference. biggrin

1. a formal expression of opinion or intention made, usually after voting, by a formal organization, a legislature, a club, or other group. Compare concurrent resolution, joint resolution.
2. a resolve or determination.
3. the act of resolving or determining upon an action or course of action, method, procedure, etc.
4. the mental state or quality of being resolved or resolute; firmness of purpose.
5. the act or process of resolving or separating into constituent or elementary parts.
6. the resulting state.

Resolutions are stupid, and made my stupid people.

Here's why resolutions are stupid:
1. If someone is going to do something, they'll start today, not wait until January 1 to do it. Whether it's a diet, quitting smoking, or whatever, a person will do that when they're ready. When they are truly resolved to doing it, they'll do it, and 99% of the time it won't be on January 1. You can lead a horse to water...
2. It sets people up for failure. The minute you slip up on, or flat out abandon, your resolution, there's some level of immediate, and often times longer lasting, guilt. Why live with undue guilt?
3. Retailers profit from stupid people making stupid resolutions. Gym memberships sky rocket, and by April over 90% of those people will never return, yet they're locked into a contract (with most gyms, unless you're at one like Planet Fitness, or some mom and pop gym w/ no contract). But if people are stupid enough to toss away money, someone has to be smart enough to catch it.

I can't imagine how much hard work goes into being so tiresomely disagreeable all the time.

Just do what you're going to do NOW. Don't let a calendar or some stupid man made tradition dictate when YOU'RE ready. A few people, as examples:

Missfee: If you start now, you could lose 1, or even 2 dress sizes by New Years.

Peacelovealways: Start eating now!

Alej: Take a brisk walk tomorrow, and every day there after.

Why wait for any of these things?

I have a work of fiction in the pipeline. However, the book in reference is non-fiction, and about as real as a book can get about the person who wrote it.
