Period. Fear is incredibly powerful. Especially fear for your life and the lives of your children. (As in, afraid you will be killed if you try to leave rather than put up with abuse in the meantime.) And it goes beyond that as well. Psychological abuse does a number on people. But if you're talking about women not rising up and changing the world, well, then yes, we're a party to that. We all are. Yeah I'm not talking about abused women, I'm talking about women who know their men are violent and stand by them anyway. hmmm... I guess I don't know any real-life situation like that. That one doesn't make preactical sense to me. But yes, anyone who stands by a violent person, man or woman, friend or family member... |

It's not a "men" thing, it's a HUMAN thing
Yes, humans are violent, but the vast majority of violent acts are carried out by men. I think it's fair to look at violence that comes from men and women differently. Women kill with words. That s why they like to gossip. While the great majority of the killing in the world is done by men, there are sociopathic women who go around killing men. Eileen Wournos was probably the most extreme recent example of a violent female serial killer, but her victims tended to be either unsuspecting johns who took her up on her sexual services or abusive ex-boyfriends who beat the crap out of her. Then of course, there's the whole story of Lizzie Borden, who may have been the first O.J. Simpson-like murder case in that she was acquitted. Having said that, most of the female serial killers tend to whack their victims in discreet, passive-aggressive ways, like poisoning or drugging their food or suffocating them with a pillow in their sleep.

There's also women who not only stood by their man, but killed for him--Manson. But that's pretty unusual.
There are women who have participated in kidnappings with their husbands (one girl just recently discovered her in CA), though they were likely the first victims of those men, as well. Women who see their boyfriends get into stupid fights every weekend and do no more than roll their eyes Women who marry Menendez boys or other high profile "bad boys" I am not saying women are committing these crimes, but women tend more to accept a man, flaws & all, and these "flaws" may range from light violence to genocide. Where there are men, there are women. [Edited 11/6/09 15:43pm] My Legacy

I don't understand men these days. They have the nerve to say that they don't get women, but men are supposed to be these strong warriors who can take anything. These days they are acting like whiny little brats with big egos, and only think of themselves. [Edited 11/6/09 15:51pm] I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

That statement is utter bullshit. It's a typical, and cliched, view of men. That's why women "don't get them".

There's too much pressure on everyone these days.
For a man or woman to be successfull today he/she almost has to abandon his/her family (spouse and kids) to fit the corporate structure -- mind you, corporate prefers marrieds, but then works them to death and makes them choose -- when the person comes home his/her time with the family is less enjoyable and limited. The stress caused in the relationship begins to de-construct the family. The children are harmed -- there is tension in the home which can lead to divorce. The loss of family structure, income and stability will surely make you lose your mind. Keeping up with the Jones' -- was never a good idea.

It's not a "men" thing, it's a HUMAN thing, coupled w/ evil. In a world that "celebrates diversity", everyone has become a clone, and feelings are mass produced in a process of brain-washing the people into believing whatever they'll eat up. Humanity has gotten lost in the haze of self-help books, and 8 minute fixes. Yet silently, while we all look like "we're just being ourselves" on the outside, trouble is brewing inside. The opposite of war isn't peace, it's creation. For me men going off the deep end is usually low intelligence + testosterone + anger = violence (throw in substance abuse and no education and you have disaster) or any combinations of the above. Sociopaths 1 in 27. women doing stuff is less about anger or testosterone low intelligence, substance abuse, psychosis (which is can be pretty fucking horrific, but not "evil") being in co-dependent relationships - ie ebablers. I don't believe in evil - these folks are simply incapable and incomplete IMO not in full capacity intellectually or morally.

Aside from committing actual violence, women have a long history of standing by their violent men. Adolf Hitler had a girlfriend, that's all that needs to be said! are they so awestruck by their man they overlook atrocity? or trapped in co-dependent relationships, fearing for their own lives? what was their own history - did nobody else love them?

How is violence different? Women get a pass? A bullet in the head despite who pulls the trigger. Look at Aileen Wuornos. One of the worst serial killers in history. A woman. This is NOT a gender issue people. Women don't get a pass for being killers or violent anymore than men get a pass on not understand pregnancy or something as equally ridiculous. Women's crimes don't get the attention that men's do in the press, but there are prisons FULL of women who have committed violent crimes against others. Laugh as you will but Lorena Bobbitt was a violent criminal. She's just plain nuts, frankly. Even today, she seems like she's off her rocker a bit. She should have served major time. If she had plunged a knife in his chest, we MIGHT have heard about it.

Men kill more than women. Why is it sexist to say that? Who heads almost every nation? Who makes up most of the military? When we hear about female serial killers, they are the exception and not the norm.

for economic reasons perhaps?... There are plenty of women of low-income background who stay with their partners because they couldn't make it on their own and can't afford to leave in the first place.
