yep, im a woolies girl (no aldi here pout

you'd think after they play stories about purse snatchings on the current affairs shows ppl would learn.
unfortunately, you have to be on the look out all the time, but there are a few honest ppl out there as well.

i have a small, overthe shoulder purse for my money/cards etc...and im always walking with my hand on the clasp...

especially after one day id just withdrawn the rent money and was shopping for that nites dinner, didnt realise my purse had popped open and money ahd fallen out. an honest lady picked it up and handed it to me....i could have hugged her.
seems that i was busy doing something close to nothing, but different than the day before music beret

Not for a while. The last time was from a little angel faced gypsy street kid at the Duomo in Milano a couple years ago, but I literally chased him down and literally smacked him on his ass. The time before that would have been about 18 years ago inside of a dorm at Yale while attending a grad ceremony. It sucked.

Anyone had this happen to them before?

15 years ago I was enjoying vacations in Italy (Firenze) and my wallet got stolen while ordering icecream.

In 2004 I was going back from my parents by a late night train to Paris and found out my purse was gone (with my wallet, passport, keys, cellphone, eyeglasses...), I had to go to a friend to spent the night and called my family to warn them I wasn't reachable on my cell anymore. T

The day after I called the locksmith to open my apartment's door and get new keys, it owed me 450 € and the insurance I had at that time didn't cover anything

UPDATE:
I got my cell phone bill (it was stolen off my desk on Oct. 22 by some punk kid in my class), and there were $79. worth of charges for games and music downloads on it! mad
I was able to get reimbursed, but I got angry all over again. The little jerk didn't make any calls, so I still have no way of tracing who it was! mad

PanthaGirl, did you have any luck?

I lose my ATM card at least 3 times a year, usually leave it in the machine or something. I swear the people at my bank are so use to me doing that. They just wave and say "Oh you're back again", when I walk in to get a new one. (embarrassed). lol

I cant imagine how horrible that would feel. I left a really expensive Madonna shirt and a babys superman outfit in a toilet stall once and when I rushed back in after about 5 minutes it was already gone. I felt so violated even over losing that so I cant even imagine how bad it must feel to lose something important. Thieves are pathetic people, even if they're elderly, which is how my thief was described too.

Sorry to hear this happened to you.
Where I live its the latest trend in crime to be a purse/wallet thief. Many news stories report that women (young attractive wealthy looking) case stores and restaurants and specifically target women that carry statement bags.

So if you carry any bag or purse make sure its plain looking and not eye catching.
Women with Prada, Coach, Louis V., etc. bags are usually targeted.
7 women I know have had their bags lifted from them just like your experience in the past two years.

Because of this I just keep to carrying a plain leather purse that I keep on my shoulder or between my legs when I sit at a table.

I hope your purse and all money is recovered. Stay safe. rose

I've done that before as well whilst overseas but I had another ATM card for that joint account so it wasn't so much a travesty.

Thank you lovely appreciate ur words. It's now been a little while so I doubt it will be found, I'd be very surprised if it turns up at all. Unfortunately all my purses and bags are designer so they do attract attention especially to these thieves but I'm getting into the habit now of not taking them wherever I go. I do have a couple of large over the shoulder rastafarian canvas bags that I've been using moreso lately too, they fit across my torso so this should keep those thieves at bay.

Newsflash Update: woot!

The police called me an hour ago to inform me 2 of my cards have been recovered. They were handed in to the local police station this morning and have been fingerprinted and run through the system for matches. It's only my RACV insurance card and Caribbean miles card but better then nothing at all. I honestly couldn't believe it I'll be picking them up later in the arvo. Fingers crossed that more will be handed in.

I was the one who found them and turned it over to your local police. I ran a fingerprint check in the bat computer. I can only tell you that the Joker/Catwoman/The Riddler and the Peguin did not still your credit cards batman
