Moments of Panic....

Don't U hate it when Ur purse or wallet is lost or stolen. About 2 hours ago I was at the local shops and was sitting down on a bench with my purse on top of my shopping bags waiting for my number to be called from a store. I turned to my side to pick all my items up when my number was called and bang...the purse is gone. There was no one else sitting there with me yet a few peeps walking around. I suppose it didn't take much for some arse to reach over and pick it up but I can't believe I didn't see it happen, it was right next to me.

I've just commenced cancelling all my cards, I had also just withdrawn $250 from the ATM too so there goes my pocket money for the week. I wish peeps were more honest and at this stage I don't care about the money I just want my purse back, so much of my life was in there to get by on. I reported it to management and they said most likely the money will be gone and the purse dumped in a bin or something alike, but considering it has been 2 hours and I haven't heard from them, that purse is long gone. Another aspect that bothers me most of all is the fact my licence is in there too, with my full address displayed. This has me worried because if this peep can reach over and thieve my purse, they are capable of a lot more.

Anyone had this happen to them before?

First off I am really sorry that this happened to you. sad

Earlier this year I leaving to go to the store with my Dad,and while putting some other things in the truck I set my wallet on the egde of the bed of the truck. I totally forgot I set it there, got in the truck, and away we went! When we got to the store,I reached down beside me where I usually set my wallet, and it wasn't there,so I looked on the floor, under the seat, and then it dawned on me that I had left it on the edge of the truck bed. So we started retracing our drive there looking out the window trying to spot it.got all the way home, and still hadn't found it. I walked about 2 blocks away from my house looking all over the road, and nothing. So I was very upset, and had to call all my credit cards, and let them know that I had lost my wallet, and then about an hour after I did thisan older man showed up with my wallet. I was SO grateful, but a little glad that I had my cards reissued. He seemed like a very honest guy,but he could have easily wrote down my card info before returning it to me.

I really hope you get your purse back! hug

I'm so happy to hear that a citizen was honest enough to return ur property back to U, and ur right about having ur cards reissued, U never do know what peeps are capable of so it's best for ur own sake and to protect ur finances as well. Best move to make.

I've just returned from the local police station to put in a formal report and I went back to the shops to question if Arthur, a man I've known for years, had seen anyone near me at the time from the shop I was waiting at and he said the only person he noticed close to me was an elderly woman. After he mentioned that, I recalled seeing her and asking her if she had seen my purse when I was frantically running around and even though I didn't take too much notice at the time being so frantic, thinking back now she purposely held her shopping bags away from me so it has got me thinking that she may be accountable for the theft. Either way I'm quite sure the cash has been taken and the purse has been dumped somewhere. Damn kleptomaniacs.

I think it's her. I have to go back to the centre management tomorrow morning and see if they find anything on their cameras, not sure if that area is surveilled though.

Oh my goodness! I understand how you feel! sad

I put my Blackberry down on my desk at school a couple of weeks ago to teach a lesson (my desk is at the BACK of the classroom), and at the end of the period it was gone! One of the kids in my 4th period class walked out with it! omfg

I reported it to the school, and the Deans called each kid down, but no one budged. I lost all my contacts and things. I felt bad for the other teachers whose full names and numbers were also in there. Hopefully whichever thieving punk took it just ditched my SIM card to sell the phone. pout

I hope everything works out for you... that feeling of violation cannot be soothed overnight. hug

Oh! Were your keys in there? Change your locks! omg

Thanks Mach... hug

I'm having second thoughts about carrying a purse around at certain places too and my mum has replaced it with a new LV wallet which is cool but that may be another tempter for the thieves out there. I've learnt a valuable lesson and will never again leave my purse out of my hands, that's for sure.

Wow I'm sorry that happened, and by one of ur students of all peeps is disgusting. Karma works in many weird and wonderful ways so I'm sure this student will have his d-day.

I hope it all works out well too, the anxiety has worn off but I'm feeling the loss, it's been a bad week overall. No my car keys were in my jacket pocket it was just my purse that was taken, bad enough considering everything I had in there, some things can't be replaced but it will be fine eventually. It may turn up but I doubt it.

I had my wallet stolen out of my purse several years ago, at a restaurant in Chicago. (Long story, but I knew who stole it once I realized it was gone. mad )

I know what you mean about being nervous that your license/address is in there. I had my social security card in there, too. (I don't carry that around anymore!) I was so paranoid the guy would try to break into my apt.

I don't know if this is applicable outside the US, but if so, I would suggest calling all 3 credit reporting agencies (Experian, Equifax and TransUnion) and ask them to put a "fraud alert" on your credit file. That way if someone tries to steal your identity and open new credit lines, hopefully they will be unsuccessful.

Best to always keep your purse in your bag and your bag closed.
Only take it out when needed. Better also to not carry all your credit cards, personal stuff, large sums of money and drivers license all in your purse because then you lose everything when you lose your purse. Same with keys.

Not that I am doing this either innocent

When I worked in the mall years ago, they arrested an elderly White couple who paid Black teenagers to walk thru the stores and "get watched" (yeah, that stereotype rolleyes) while they ripped the stores off. disbelief

I'm quite sure it was, she was the only person closest to me at the time it went missing. I'm not surprised, there have been incidents at my work where the feds have arrested elderly peeps coming off flights for the same reason.
