they're changing the name of Vegemite?

i just read a news story about this, apparently some Australians are upset because Kraft Foods Australia wants rename the product 'Vegemite iSnack 2.0'.

that's just stupid.

so Australians (and everybody else): do you eat the stuff and do you give a monkey's what it's called?
everyone's a fruit & nut case

I thought it was that new Vegemite product that was having a name change, and not Vegemite itself. That kinda sucks but I'll still eat it.

Yeah they added a new one. It's Vegemite with a cheesy taste omfg !!!!

Apparently there was a call for names and thousands of people entered...they ended up with iSnack 2.0.

WTF?????

There's been such an uproar that they are deciding what to rename it to now....

doh!

Mind you I have never eaten vegemite so I googled it to see what exactly it is...AND i found this for you guys!!

During the 1990s, Kraft released a product in Australia known as Vegemite Singles. It combined two of Kraft's major products into one. The product consisted of Kraft Singles with Vegemite added, thus creating Vegemite-flavoured cheese. This extension of the Vegemite product line was an attempt by Kraft to capitalise on the enormous popularity of Vegemite and cheese sandwiches (made by placing a slice of cheese into a Vegemite sandwich). Vegemite Singles were later taken off the market, possibly due to poor sales

Is Vegemite the same as Marmite? Marmite is what they call it in the UK. Are there any differences?

I like the normal one too but the idea of mixing it with what must be liquid cheese flavoured dribble is a little pukey to me.

isn't vegimite a little pukey to begin with? Only stories I've heard. I still need to taste it...hard to find in the states.

Yeah it falls under the category of "something you have to grow up with"

Like black pudding or natto or durian

I totally agree. I won't be going near that if I see they've started imported it at Food Land.

Can you get decent Kimchi over there? There isn't one place I can buy it in my town...have to get it in the city and sit on a train for two hours with the stinky stuff.

Also can you get a decent Guinness?

The only time I have kimchi is at a Korean/Japanese barbecue restaurant. I imagine you can buy in the shops somewhere though.

I've never had a really fantastic pint of Guinness here but I've had passable ones. It's pricey though, at slightly more than I'd pay in the UK, which for out here of course means it's a luxury.

I heard about that but I'm sure it's just a stupid marketing stunt. And I love Vegemite on toast. I need exactly the right amount applied exactly how I like it though or else it's yuck.

The Orginal and best!!

Australian/New zealand's marmite is way to salty. Vegemite isn't too bad, but has a horrible after-taste!!
If you can get the english, you can find around in some places!
