That sucks lovely sorry to hear. Hopefully they have reprotected his connection with the airline. Is he travelling back to MEL with Virgin? If I can help in any way let me know I can access the system from my home intranet.

The 2115 has just closed for check in love. Sorry to say DJ flights close at - 20 mins to departure and from what I can see it isn't delayed, the 2115 rarely is due to SYD curfew... sad

Let me know if he gets in touch again, if he has missed his flight I'll give U some advice on what he should do next. Best option would be to pay an LMC fee, that way he doesn't forfeit the entire fare. On the other hand because his original flight was delayed coming in to SYD, if VB have an interline agreement with them they may move him to next available service in the AM for free.

OK I'll tell him, what about them putting him on a flight tomorrow for no extra? He was told he could catch one tonight at no extra charge because the qantas one was so late, and thanks to the lady who told him he needed proof of delay, he wasted a good 15 minutes at the qantas desk pissed who told him just get to the virgin check-in and they'll just call to confirm the delay rolleyes

SOOOOO mad.

Okay mate I edited my message above before u posted correcting myself, we don't have an interline agreement with Qantas yet I have dealt with delayed guests from those flights and moved them FOC in the past. All he needs to do is speak to the staff at the Service Desk, which is across from check in counters and I'm quite sure they will do it and put him on the 0600 service out of SYD. The VB staff at SYD are very cool.

Qantas are also liable to pay for his overnight accomodation.

LAN? The chilean airline? Wow okay have no idea what could have happened there either but most likely a cancellation and he was moved across to QF. Hopefully he does make the 2200 flight... rose

yup he's got a boarding pass. He has chosen to come home tonight, and they have made him pay $319, but we are taking it up with qantas later - the whole thing is too strange IMO.

That is some bullshit there love QF are ridiculous that is not right, they have an obligation to reprotect ur man and move him FOC. I'll never understand the way they operate, maybe that's why we lovingly call them Cuntas at work... wink

On the other hand, I'm happy he's going to make it back to MEL tonight.. hug

What it basically means is that because he flew in on one of QF aircrafts and they delayed the flight for whatever reason, he in turn missed his connection and so they have an obligation to keep him on one of their services, or move him FOC or credit him to another carrier as part of a service promise.

Qantas are arses when it comes to such things, they are wound up tight but in line with protecting their clients they are under obligation to deal with this sufficiently instead of charging him under those circumstances.

For example if he arrived at the airport late, without any prior flight then he is liable, but he was delayed due to circumstances surrounding the airline and not personal, so they must reprotect him on their service, or at the very least contacted VB ahead of time to inform them and action their service promise.
