Maybe because white critics are finally giving him the time of day because he has a predominantly white cast.

I will always go to see any movie made by Spike Lee - like my other favourite directory (Woody Allen), I've been watching his movies long enough that I just implicitly trust him to give me a movie I will enjoy.
Dunno when it will be released in my corner of the globe though. Speaking of Spike, I just dug up the Stevie Wonder soundtrack for Jungle Fever... great stuff!

Maybe because white critics are finally giving him the time of day because he has a predominantly white cast. I dont by that completely..a lot of his issues and ideas were hamfiste d and pushed etc..regardless of whom th e cast was. I think its odd to say that most critics bothe r to watch and fairly evaluate a Spike Lee joint because they dont have a large white cast. I think most critics have more of a sense of diversity than to be that dumb. Not saying every critic but the film medium is quite liberal for the most part. A few ignant fools who jusge a film by cast color shouldn't be the reason for not admitting some of his films-structure etc were lackluster just as him having a predomnantly white cast is not the reason why he makes a great film. Maybe because white critics are finally giving him the time of day because he has a predominantly white cast. One of his most critically acclaimed films, Do The Right Thing, had a predominantly Black cast, so that's not exactly true. This post not for the wimp contingent. If you can dig up the CD single for Gotta Have You. It contains the song "Feeding Off the Love of the Land" the song that played in the closing credits of Jungle Fever.

Saw it this morning, GREAT!!! It didn't blow me away exactly, but I enjoyed it & it's very good. I think critics are shocked that Spike can still make a solid film or something, but I'm glad the reviews are so good

My favorite song from the 'Jungle Fever' soundtrack is the ONE song that Stevie doesn't sing lead vocals on,"If She Breaks Your Heart".It is sung by Kimberley Brewer,Stevie's backup singer and girlfriend at the time. But there is some great stuff on that CD.
