this is why the nfl is so much better than mlb. $426 million in contracts for 3 players? mad

my orioles will continue to suck ass because we're in the same division as the yuks, sox and even tampa bay. yuks and sox just buy whoever the fuck they want, and players go there like a businessman to a strip club

this is the most ignorant statement and I'm SO tired of hearing it. In your specific case, there are 22 teams that spent more than your Baltimore Orioles. Yep, the top payroll won this year. Guess what? The top payroll hasn't won JACK SHIT for the last 9 years.

Are you seriously complaining that the Orioles will continue to suck because they are in the same division as the Rays?!? They spent less money than even your Orioles and had a better record.

This is MLB's system. If you want to direct anger ANYWHERE, direct it to MLB, not the specific teams. By the way, the Yankees pay to the tune of 100 MILLION a year in revenue sharing. Money that teams and owners (your Orioles are one of the biggest money stealers in this instance) TAKE and don't put directly into their team. They use it as profit.

The Yankees, and similar teams, can afford to pay for better players because they are a larger market and MAKE MORE MONEY than the other teams. Cry for MLB reform, don't blame the teams that are simply operating under the rules put in place.

oh yeah the small ,market teams had a legitimatge chance to land sabathia, texeira and burnett--that's the ignorant stuff right there. take of them evil empire sunglasses. the yankees didn't make the system but they damn sure are benefiting from it. wink

the best team money can buy-- lol

uhhm ok --which division would u rather play in--chicago/cleveland/minnesota/detroit or ny/boston/toronto/tampa/o's?
name me 9 players from all of the central division TEAMS COMBINED that could compete with the yanks and bosox 40 times a year.

that's like putting the original fuggin dream team in basketball out there every night. with that payroll they should have won--point blank.

Preach that shit!!! Isn't it funny that the Yankee haters only flap their gums when the team wins? Where were these fools the past nine years? That shows you they're full of it. They can whine all they want, but the Yankees play by the rules.

Yanks were very beatable in the WS. A.J. Burnett's ERA for the series was around 7. Teixeira's batting average was .138. Team batting average was under .250. Their starting pitching was so unreliable, they went with a three man rotation.

Money definitely helps, but to win you have to have a good farm system too. Tampa Bay got to the World Series last year on their home grown players alone. Add some money, which Peter Angelos definitely has, and they could have made it back to the finals this year. Money isn't the only reason why the Orioles always lose.

Do you sincerely believe that payroll is the single most important deciding factor in a team's making it to, and winning, the World Series?
It's what you make it.
