I watched the game last night with a Japanese friend of mine and he basically said the same thing after Matsui won the series MVP award.

Tell Angelos to stop being so stingy and spend some money on real players.

I do not like the Yankees. At all. My wife is happy. She is from NYC. She don't watch many games. But every time the Yankees play here in Seattle.

If they win, she laughs. The Yankees may win 30. Before Seattle win one. But one can hope. Congratulations to the Yankees. Muthas did it again. doh!

The Yankees can't sign everyone. Johan Santana was available to any other team willing to spend a few years ago because the Yanks didn't want to sign him. Also put some money into scouting and your farm system. Build that up and your team could have traded young guys to Toronto for Roy Halliday.

this is the most ignorant statement and I'm SO tired of hearing it. In your specific case, there are 22 teams that spent more than your Baltimore Orioles. Yep, the top payroll won this year. Guess what? The top payroll hasn't won JACK SHIT for the last 9 years.

Are you seriously complaining that the Orioles will continue to suck because they are in the same division as the Rays?!? They spent less money than even your Orioles and had a better record.

This is MLB's system. If you want to direct anger ANYWHERE, direct it to MLB, not the specific teams. By the way, the Yankees pay to the tune of 100 MILLION a year in revenue sharing. Money that teams and owners (your Orioles are one of the biggest money stealers in this instance) TAKE and don't put directly into their team. They use it as profit.

The Yankees, and similar teams, can afford to pay for better players because they are a larger market and MAKE MORE MONEY than the other teams. Cry for MLB reform, don't blame the teams that are simply operating under the rules put in place.

same old ignorant ill informed statements. I can't stand it. Hate the team all you want, but hate it them for legitimate reasons. disbelief

All I know is the SAME teams that complain EVERY season, keep cashing their revenue checks EVERY season. The fucking Marlins payroll was somewhere around 20 million while they cashed a 35 million revenue sharing check. I'm tired of paying for other teams just so they can complain about hey they can't compete. What-the fuck-ever. rolleyes

Watching the coverage of the pre-parade on NY1 this morning made me dislike them even more. Why must so many Yankees fans be SO obnoxious? It's not cute. (And I'm not being a sore loser - I don't even like baseball.)

And so where's all this "revenue" from winning going? To pay overtime to city workers to clean up the mess from the parade? Or are my tax dollars being used for that? And what about the cost of the lost productivity for all the people who work in the parade area who are late getting to work because of street closures and crowds? But wait, I guess A-Rod, Jeter, et. al. will still get (over)paid so it's worth the extra money.

Whatever.

Let's be real here. What you're complaining about is not restricted to Yankees fans because when the Giants had their parade a few years ago, you saw the same type of fans there too.

Are you really saying it's better for the city if none of its major sports teams win?

Well until I see numbers that prove the World Series, parade, etc. are not costing the city/taxpayers more money than they bring in, I'd be fine with that.

According to this article, the NY Giants parade in 2008 cost the city around $331,000 and today's parade should be the same. http://www.foxbusiness.co...pe-parade/

With two million people expected to be there, I think the money they spend today will be more than that.
