I'm just venting, feel free to ignore...

So I went out tonight with the man who broke my heart...
You may remember my classic thread: moody, depressing, sad, sad music... wink This is the guy who inspired it.
Don't you hate it when you have an all-out affection for someone and they just don't return it???
I hate it. I'm in turmoil. And it's so not like me. I went out with him tonight to determine if we could be friends. Guess what?? Not gonna work for me. Which really, really sucks, cause he's one of the coolest guys I've ever met. So, alas! All I can do is wallow in my own self-pity. And once again bring out the Cure and the Smiths and the Beautiful Girl soundtrack (thanks RDHull! wink ) and get over it all over again...

Don't see him anymore, precious woman! You'll just torture yourself. Keep busy with other people who don't know him and who won't indulge your desire to talk about him. Go invest some time in a project that grounds you and makes you realize what life is truly all about, and how wonderful and valuable you really are to a multitude of others.

Oh yeah, you didn't ask for any advice, did you--you were just venting! wink lol Sorry, I'm bad about that sometimes! smile

Thanks, though! I'm taking all advice I can get! smile

The sad thing is, I work with him. Get to see him every day. I told myself not to even go there, but I did, and he did and then he got back together with an ex. Supposedly, he didn't even see it coming. He was just sooo nice and sweet about the whole thing, it made it even worse.

I will get over it eventually.

I'm just gonna have to ignore him from now on. rolleyes

Damn girl. I'm so sorry to hear it. Maybe all you need is a clean break from this guy so that you can get a fresh start this year. I wish I was there to console you and listen to The Cure all night. We'd make having a pity party actually fun. I hope things pick up for you again soon. Sorry that the friend option didn't pan out.

It's his loss, not yours. He's an ass, if he can't see the light in you. Ok, so you have to work with him but you know what, if you have the self-confidence that I think you have it will show thru. When you see him, smile at him and walk away without saying anything. Just a brief glance and a smile. Like you know something he doesn't. And guess what you do know something he doesn't, that he's a butthead.

OK, did any of that help? Did you get a smile from any of it?

I was in a similar situation with a co-worker and we became a little friendly, but I knew it was only a physical attraction nothing of value in my book. There were some hurt feeling sure, but after a week I was over it. Don't sweat it,you won't feel that way for a long time.

I'll tell you what start smiling at men everywhere. At work, shopping, wherever you go and see the reactions you get. Don't smile at the men with their wives. lol The men will smile back, hold doors open for you, and you will feel very good. It will boost your feelings, out of depression or funk.

Dear heart ... wonderful as he may be...He is poison in your well... Every person has had one... Causes you to act all out of character etc. Try and remember for you this one is poison

Show him this sign no no no!
At either rate he will just think you are all mentally F'd up in the head and stay away from you.. nuts

okkk so this didn't help... but I bet I distracted ya for a bit smile

When you ask about having an all-out affection for someone and they just don't return it I think this happens to me almost subconsciously on purpose. Sometimes it's easier to fall for people that you cannot have. Relationships are a lot of work and sometimes it's easier to just be alone and be depressed over someone you can't have. It also seems to be a good excuse as to why you can't go out and meet someone new. Hope you feel better though.

But on a lighter note; The Beautiful Girl soundtrack big grin I love that soundtrack and listen to it all the time. I also love the movie and quote from it quite often. I even watched them film some of that movie at my mom's old work and got to meet Uma Thurman drool

Time will heal your heart, dear girl. And, yes, you will fall in love again although it doesn't seem like it now.
Treat yourself well...pamper yourself, you've been hurt and you need to heal.
Things will get better.
He doesn't deserve you if he can't see the good in you

Carrie. Sometimes we have have to walk away however hard it is, for our own peace of mind if nothing else. It isn't easy but in time you will look back and feel a lot better than you do now. hug

Carrie. sad You know I love you girl. My advice would be to take some time away from him. If you truly feel like you are unable of only holding platonic feelings for him, being reminded of what attracts you to him by seeing him will not help.

If he really is a great guy, you will one day probably be ableo to meet with him on even terms.

In any case, it sucks. I've been there many times myself and it is never fun and it never gets easier. All you need to know is that I love you and I think you're damn sexy, girl. wink
