Okay, since I just saw a commercial for the sixth installment of the "Saw" movies, my boyfriend and I decided to have a little "Saw" marathon of our own. So we watched all five Saw movies and concluded that:

They should have stopped after Saw III. But the first one was the best.

I only saw the first one and hated it. I'm not a fan of torture porn at all, so they definitely aren't for me. But even more than that, did the first one make sense at all?

3 is my ABSOLUTE favorite. In fact, last night my lover and I cuddled up and watched the SAW marathon on the SyFy network. I was loving it, he was genuinely scared and disgusted, so he started kissing me so that I wouldn't watch it and pay more attention to him. Then we started getting so so that my grew 5 times its normal size, then when he my Like a berry, chocolate, fender jazz, potato fuzztone, all over his .

But yeah, 3 was the best.

Oh lordy, Meggy loves those damn movies and I get pulled in every time by the psychological aspects... I would never choose to watch one on my own. I really don't like the torture aspects at all. Gore doesn't do anything for me.

One of the dumbest plots of all time.

With that said, people should really be watching this:

I love the SAW movies. I love the twists and turns in them, and the "tests".

However, I have to say this...they remind me of old school horror movies. Here's why. The stunts they do are practical, meaning what you see is what happens They don't CGI anything in those movies. It's almost an unorthodox idea to set up a stunt and film it in full, opposed to CGI'ing all the effects onto the film later. Back in the days of Friday The 13th, It's Alive, Tourist Trap, and even MJ's Thriller etc etc, they didn't have a Mac, or Skywalker ranch around to beef up their film. Sure there was a bit of trickery with a knife going into someone's chest, but the blood pack was real, the knife DID go into something. There were no blue/green screens (and if there was they weren't used to the extent they are today). The folks who make the SAW movies have always approached the movies w/ that practical state of mind, opposed to a CGI state of mind. I kind of watch just to see how they are going to set up a stunt and pull it off.

They're ending the series after the 2010 edition anyway.

they are not going in any kind of order

I don't mind the SAW series, psychologically thrilling. I couldn't get into the last one though, it became a little repetitive. They should have ended it after the mastermind was KO'd.

Just as a note: Ozzy is in it on TV as a preacher. Gene is only in the beginning as a DJ. THey are NOT the stars of the film, or have more than 6 minutes total screen time combined. Marc Price playing Erwin "Skippy" Handleman on Family Ties. He's obsessed w/ a rock group whose lead singer's dead spirit envelopes the kid's stereo, spins the record backwards, and influences the kid w/ evil messages about death or destruction. It's one of those bad/fun horror movies. But at the time in the 80's when everyone was spinning records backwards to hear secret messages, it was a perfect movie making fun of it.

Kinda. It was originally supposed to be released in 2007 and Warner shelved it despite hordes of excellent reviews. It was just released a couple of weeks ago on DVD and to a limited number of theaters. It's probably one of the more original Halloween movies made in recent years. And I say 'Halloween' because it owes much more to that than traditional horror.

Good stuff. You should check it out.

yeah ok. like this guy can make all these elaborate torture machines that would make the most intelligent klingon blush.

I sort of liked the first one, but I thought the next 2 were pretty derivative, particularly Saw II. I haven't watched the rest, because they seemed pointless.
