I think my job is going to kill me...it cannot be a good thing to have your heart palpitating and chronic headaches from teeth grinding and tense shoulder muscles and back aching and swollen feet.My stress level is through the roof.

I almost really wish they would fire me confused

Because what he could offer me was 30K less than what I was used to making. And I the job only required 5 years of experience and BA. I have 15 years and a Masters.

His view was that as soon as a better offer came around, I'd leave.
I think people who have lower paying jobs and skills have a fighting chance. Those who are a bit more seasoned are fighting for positions now.

Starbucks are slowly being filled up with former exects. lol

Yeah, I've gotten the "you seem overqualified" before. I was applying for a job managineg the 4th largest department budget at a MAJOR museum, with 85 separate grant/accounts/funds. It was millions of dollars. Prior to that I had managed my project budget of like, $50k. neutral But the first thing HR said was that "I seemed overqualified." How do you answer that? If you say, "No, I'm not. Really!" then you run the risk of sounding like you're not qualified. And if you say they're right, then you're overqualified. sigh I said I was flattered they felt that way, and that although the job required many of the same skills I already had, it was on a much larger scale and as such would still be a challenge.

Worst. interview. ever. And I didn't get the job - for which the Director of that Department had recommended me personally. cry

I've had that issue before too, except it wasn't on such a higher level of management as with what you experienced, but it seems as though in the job descriptions they put that an undergrad degree is required...yet they don't call you for an interview because you have an MBA and a couple of years experience instead. rolleyes What the fuck? It's like we need you to have SOME experience but if you have TOO MUCH experience then you are out of the running. It makes you feel like wow I spent all these years going to school so that I can better myself with a great job, but its still not good enough.

I applied for a position a month ago for a job that I KNEW I was qualified for, they sent me an email yesterday saying that I was no longer being considered for the position. So I call their HR department asking them why, and the guy says that because I've switched too many positions in the past 4 years. Okay WTF? I know people who only stay on jobs for 6 months and then look for something else and actually GET THE JOB. Though I felt it was irrelevant reason to dismiss an applicant, I actually stayed at the position that I had right after I graduated from college two years. I go to another job that is better and will give me more experience, but only after two weeks of being there they announce a merger in which I would be getting laid off. So a year and a half later as the layoff date is near I find the job I'm currently in....but guess what, its unorganized, they don't follow the rules and regulations of the department, the managers are incompetent, and the people there aren't willing to train you if you need help. My strong work ethic doesn't even go with the job that I have now which is why I'm trying to find something more on my level. Does it really make sense to promote associates who come into work late, don't answer emails and phone calls, and answer their cell phones at their desk while you have an associate like me who comes into work on time, keeps my cell on vibrate and go outside to take a call if necessary (as it states in our office rules and regulations), return emails and answer voicemails on a timely basis, complete the work within deadlines and able to multi task effectively. But I guess they don't want an associate like this in their department???? rolleyes You tell me.
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.
