My uncle did Amway for a few years.
He never made money. They are everywhere now trying to get people to join due to the desperate economy. They respond to job resume posts with very 'legit' looking 'job offers'. I think Mary Kay and Avan actually makes women alot of money. Makeup spending actually goes up during a recession. | |

Forget 'em. If you have to sit through a presentation, you're already too late to make any real money.
Now, you might make enough to live on, or to supplement your regular job. But that's about it. | |

Thanks for the responses. I'm not totally sold just speculating on supplementing my income.
I suppose if I could get the "six" partners he talked about it might be lucrative as residual income? I'll take a more in-depth look at the material. Feel free to share more stories if you have them. Thanks, | |

What RodeoSchro was saying was that the early birds truly get the worm, with MLM situations. If an MLM has been around long enough to get to the stage where it's publicizing presentations and doing large-scale pitches and enrollment, the lion's share of the profits are going to go to the folks who got in on the ground floor, not to the latter folks.
One of the largest issues with MLM sales is inventory: The latter sales folks typically have to buy tons of inventory from the folks who are levels above them. But, brand loyalty often keeps would-be customers from buying that inventory. That bind can make you urgently try to get salespeople to come in under you, so you can recoup the money you've wasted on the inventory. My parents tried Amway, many decades ago. I remember there being around the house generic-looking bottles of Amway products that never got sold. Folks typically stick with their brand-name favorites or a dollar store alternative before even coming close to thinking about buying an Amway product. | |
