HOLY SHIT I FINALLY HAVE A JOB!!!!!!!! I am so excited! I finally found a second job, after 5 1/2 months of searching! It's a good job, too. It is retail, but it's full time with full medical and dental coverage and the starting wage is reasonably above minimum. It's with The Hudson Group, the company that owns and operates most of the retail space except for the Duty Free at YVR airport. I am so looking forward to being able to buy my own groceries instead of dining at Cafe Food Bank. And here's the kicker, for all those of you who insisted I'd never find a decent job looking and dressing the way I please: When the hiring agent was speaking about employee expectations and began to go into dress code and appearance regulations, to be on the safe side and so I know what's expected I asked about body jewelry, hair and the like. Her response? "No, that's not an issue for us. I understand other companies can have rather strict rules about appearance, but frankly, those policies don't benefit anyone." She then proceeded to inform me the person who'll be my supervisor has enough hardware there were fears when she was hired there'd be problems with airport security. I start Monday. That's great. When I first started working a steady full time job, it was in a convenience store. Naturally, since I started making my own money, I started looking how I wanted to at the time and experimenting with my hair. I was wild back in those days. Anyway, they insisted that I change it back and said that when I was hired, I didn't look that way. When I refused, they transferred me to a store that had a lot of redneck customers. They didn't want to lose me because I was a good worker, never stole, and that is rare in the convenience store business. But they figured transferring me to a store with a lot of rednecks would scare me and "straighten me out". Hell, they just don't know me. If I know someone hates something about me, I will really overdo it just to piss them off, which is exactly what I did.
