It's pretty normal. I was 5'10 1/2" and 118 for 15 years after I graduated hight school. This was my normal weight and I ate like crazy, just never gained any weight. I'm now 39 and weigh 135, which some consider underweight but it's about 20 pounds more than my high school weight and I feel great about it.

I sometimes eat one meal a day. But I eat about three meals in that one sitting and that's why I can go to bed without eating since 4:00 pm 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

That is about 70lbs light. at 5'7? I don't think so, but it's pretty damn thin! It all depends on how you feel, though. If you feel weak & tired you probably need to eat something. I think some exercise might increase the appetite. It did for me My Legacy

That is about 70lbs light. Not necessarily. And 5'7 is not very tall for a dude. People can be very slight in frame and structure. If you're eating well, and feeling healthy (maybe get a physical to make sure) then you're fine just the way you are.

If you're eating well, and feeling healthy (maybe get a physical to make sure) then you're fine just the way you are. Especially at that age. I was 6'0 & weighed 135-140. Very thin but totally healthy. The problem is, people won't say to your face to lose 20 pounds but they have no problem telling you to gain 20 pounds! It does not make you feel good to have someone tell you "you look emaciated, eat something!" Others will say you're lucky to be thin, but it's hard to accept when so many basically criticize your looks right in front of you. I used to try to gain weight all the time. Nothing worked. Eventually age did the trick. Now I'm 165. Part of the key for me was starting to run a lot. It made my body very athletic, even though it was thin. There's a difference between thin & scrawny. Ex-Moderator | You're pretty seriously underweight and if your loved ones are asking you to see a doctor, it's a good idea.
Low BMI
If your BMI is low (under 18.5), you are considered underweight. Keep in mind that BMI measures your weight as it relates to your height, and has nothing to do with how your body looks. BMI that is too low is often related to anorexia and/or malnutrition, and can lead to health issues such as heart disease. A body mass index that is too low, on its own is a risk factor for heart problems, such as impaired ventricular function, and greater risk of mortality in the event of cardiac surgery. In the case of a low BMI, the focus should be on healthy weight gain. This will provide the body with the vitamins and nutrients it needs to stay healthy, in turn taking any strain off the heart and body. Talk to your doctor about what foods you should eat to gain weight in a healthy way. You donÆt want to eat too much food with ôempty caloriesö, such as potato chips and sweets. As a rule, you should eat a lot of multi-grains, fruits and vegetables. Refer to a food pyramid as a guide. You should also begin an exercise program as well, to help build muscle tone. If you are underweight, your muscles may be underdeveloped, which will make you weak. Walking, swimming, and aerobic exercise are all good ways to strengthen your muscles. While a low BMI can signify problems, itÆs never too late to change your lifestyle and gain weight. |

I say I was healthy back when I was super skinny, but actually I did have some food issues. I was far from starving, but I had problems eating in front of people at times, especially girls.
I also remember going periods where I just skipped meals. And my diet was not well rounded. So yeah maybe you need to eat healthier & exercise to stimulate your appetite. My Legacy

BMI is a joke. It's not the end-all, be-all, of course not. A BMI in a "normal" range doesn't mean you're "healthy" any more than being outside of a normal range means you're not. But it works like a warning light to see if there's anything wrong. Sometimes there is, sometimes there isn't. But if you're outside the "normal" range it's worth looking into. |

Eating 1 meal a day & snacking the rest of it sounds pretty unhealthy. It may not harm you now but you'll have to change your eating habits as you age or you'll be fucked

Sounds like you're a very thin. I was also your height and weight but gained weight as I got older. If you feel good and are not sick don't worry too much about it. You're really one of the lucky ones.

That is about 70lbs light. Depends on body shape and everything though doesn't it. It is very light though, but then I'm not far short of 6 ft 4 and I just converted the weight and I'm only about 165 lbs. My ideal goal weight is about 80kg, but that's still only 176 lbs, yet that would be perfect for my frame, imo.

I'm 5'-7" and I think that I was 105lbs in 10th grade.
It all depends on your bone structure of course, but you should probably pack on at least 20 pounds (muscle not fat) to "look healthy". By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!

Don't feel bad about your weight. My hubby and brother both went through the same thing. It will catch up w/ you. My husband would do everything to gain some weight. I told him, be patient your metabolism will slow down in a few years and it did, same with my brother and probably the same with you. Just enjoy being able to eat whatever you want while you still can!! LIVE4LUV
