Saying Thank You Recently I reconnected with an old boss on Facebook. This boss hired me fresh out of my abusive relationship. She has no idea what that time in my life was like but I just sent her a note thanking her for fighting for me to be hired and how badly I needed that job for so many reasons which I told her.
Before I was hired, she took the customer service team into a meeting and she asked them in any of them had any problem with her hiring a gay person to work on the team. Since nobody said anythign she said Good, that she was going to hire me and was glad nobody had any issue with it. Even if they did, she was going to hire me anyway because she wanted me. This is in conservative Orange County where I have lost 2 jobs because of prejudice against my being gay. This job was so many things for me, a lifeline, security, stability. I made friends when I needed them the most and I had male role models I could look up to and respect. I always wanted to tell her how much she helped me and now I did. Thank you Stella! Go out and thank someone [Edited 9/14/09 13:14pm] 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740 | |
