I found the press event for this lineup a bit underwhelming this year.
Perhaps because I bought a nano earlier this year in April and although I love it and do consider it to be an improvement on the 2g and 3g nanos, I didn't really use any of the new features except Genius.
I think I've watched two music videos and then just kind of ignored it after that. And I didn't find the games all that interesting.

Now, the iPod touch I loved for all it's additional features, but the memory and price point just wasn't something I wanted to put up with.


Well, this year Apple stuns me.

Not because they added an FM receiver with a 'freeze/rewind' feature, nor because they added a video camera. Those things were already rumored to be in the pike.
What stunned me was that there was no improvement to memory size. You get 2, 4, 8 and 16 gig configurations for the nano. They could have easily offered a 32 gig nano.

Likewise for the Ipod touch.

I appreciated their bumping the iPod Classic back up from 120 gig to the 160 gig max for the same price. But this isn't a major 'change' to the classic, and could have been done months and months ago. Moreover, I sense they are going to be killing the classic soon, which is a shame cause even though it is a dated product, it's a classic product. I very much like the iPod classic design.


Anyways, I guess the fact that they didn't announce anything about their Apple Tablet, I'm assuming January's Keynote is going to be a biggie.

I'm assuming they're expecting pockets to be light this year for Christmas and keeping their current storage sizes the same but dropping the prices a bit is their way of stimulating sales, so I can see them using this strategy.

And the new nano does have great features. But seriously, I had a Creative Nuvo mp3 player back in 2004 that had an FM receiver, so meh.

bah. i don't listen to radio and i have a camera crap thing on my poop phone, which i don't use because it's a crappy camera (though it works just fine as a phone).

i think the only thing iPod could do right now to really geek me out would be to create a cheaper/smaller model with ridiculous storage capabilities. even then, i'm perfectly happy with my 160GB old skool iPod classic.

put all my cassettes and Lps on there, plus all my cds

curious though - does anyone know how to get the files off the ipod so you can actually make a mix cd for friends?

i cant seem to be able to do that anymore

i suppose i could search the net but if anyone knows off hand, i would appreciate the advice

also - seems like every other song played out of 8,000 is a prince song

I want the video and voice recording capabilities. Im a bit miffed that the video voice recording thing isnt on the iTouch. now Im torn on whether to be thankful it on the nano thus cheaper and likely to be even more cheaper in the future. Or wait for the inevidible that it will be on the iTouch in a matter of months I would assume. I need my iTouch for photos mostly. and the nano for its voice/video recording. And my classic for my music library.

I was very unimpressed.

Dropping prices/doubling capacity on the Touch kinda ticked me since I bought a 16GB in November, but I won't be really jealous until the Touch has a camera of it's own. Finally app management in iTunes 9! I just have to pay to upgrade to 3.0 now to get the free 3.1 upgrade . Genius mixes seem promising, even though I found the whole Genius feature annoying when it first came out.

Video on the nano seems nice, but I'll need to see the quality first hand to believe it. Smaller, lighter device = shakier video, no matter how awesome the quality may be.

Lawd, Apple just keeps adding more and more useless shit to all the iPods

The only iPod I would actually buy is the iPod Classic

I want a phone that helps me getting laid. That's an extra feature I would be willing to pay for.

I just wish they'd make the battery last longer, or at least not charge whenever you plug it in to the computer.

I have no idea with iPods are so popular. They're so expensive when compared to Sony's Walkman MP3 players.

I mean... The iPods don't even have an expansion card slot, do they? It's obvious that they want their customers to buy a bigger-capacity model when they fill their Nanos; rather than a $15.00 SD Card or whatever.

I hate Apple! I hate that they stopped The Beatles' Apple Corps. company from using the singular word "Apple" as a trademark. Seeing "Apple Corps." on the new Beatles products just isn't the same.
