And, as it's been mentioned before, AB is all over the place with all this. First, Sookie getting slashed is a message for Eric, then Tara summoned her with her ritual with Miss Janette (?). And yeah, Tara's mom is beyond annoying! u don't know what's up with the egg? come on now ..sam turned himself in2 a chicken and laid the egg ..DUH!! hun u gotta stop trying 2 compare the books 2 the show tho hun It has nothing to do with the books. The egg just doesn't make sense at all. I'm firmly planted in denial

All in all, the episode wasn't great, but I think it was better than last week's. The Maryann storyline looks like it's headed for decent closure in either the finale or next season's premier episode. And the hinted storyline for next season (who/what Sookie is and just what the vamps want from her) was set up well.
They definitely need to give Evan Rachel Wood some diva lessons. She looked great, but she commanded no queenly respect. Heck, Pam and Bill's maker have more presence. Oh, and Bill's chest hair is growing back in! Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

I haven't read the books but I didn't care for her at all. My hubby's like you and read them all. I was like why is she all 1950's obssessed? And he was . Even with all the glam/kitsch goin on it seemed that actress (or how she was directed to act) could not carry off true fabulosity. I know she was supposed to be young but she seemed...too regular to be Queen. Exactly! There's nothing regal about her, she can't even pretend to be

And R.I.P. Carl. My theory...completely wrong! Epic fail This is also what I mean by bad writing, Seriously what was the point of Carl, from what I've watched Carl was with Maryann cause he wanted to be, he wasn't possessed by her or I miss his black eyes. They set him up in a way that viewers thought he was going to have some sort of relevance in the finale, and they just shoot him in the head with a ricochet bullet??? They didn't even give him enough to make him a false plot device. The Most Important Thing In Life Is Sincerity....Once You Can Fake That, You Can Fake Anything.

They didn't even give him enough to make him a false plot device. I think this sort of thing could be said about, say, Godric. That was an utter waste of a good character. But Carl? I dunno. Sure, we all had imagined Carl's story: Maybe he's one of Maryann's possessed; maybe he's the pig in human form. But I don't think AB promised anything. I think we were made to know him as well as we did -- and he turned out to be as innocuously human as he did -- singly to highlight how callous and uncaring Maryann proved to be with respect to regular folk in this latest ep. That was a cold $#@! attitude she took with respect to his death. [Edited 8/31/09 13:58pm] Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

ha ha ha, this show jumps sharks all throughout, that's why me and my friends laugh, we always crack up! It's truly tasteless as a concept. To its advantage! I knew what they were doing early on when Tara came outside to see Jason doing it doggystyle and smashing lettuce on the girls back. They are having fun jumping the shark. She is petite and angelic looking and absolutely lethal. She is emotionless to all but a very chosen few and all business because she is a couple thousand years old and has seen it all.She dresses like a business woman so she often looks like she's dressed too old for her age. This almost giggly young Yahtzee playing Queen is off the mark. I'm firmly planted in denial

remember that Godrick said that a vampire and his maker's bond is strong and one day you will find that out *hint hint* (when he was talking to Eric about 2 episodes ago. I think he'll turn Lafayette b/c Lafayette is tripping over seeing Eric in his dreams and daydreams.
I think the egg is about Maryanne...she knows she will die in the finally so she will be reborn via egg. Or do you think that they will kill Sam and Eric will be the one to turn him in and that is what will turn Sookie against Bill and run in the arms of Eric? Hmmmmm Um... let me warm up my vocals

My guess is both Maryann and the egg (which will be in the process of hatching something really scary) will be destroyed in either the finale or the first episode of Season 3. I also see Eggs Benedict biting the dust, too. I've no idea what will happen to Lafayette. I definitely think Eric will respond to this latest crisis, as both of the humans to whom he's linked are now in major trouble. But somehow I don't see Laf being turned or being left in his current miserable human state. Should be interesting. [Edited 8/31/09 20:20pm] Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

Whatever energy thing Sookie did by touching Maryann's face last week is probably the key to defeating her (just my guess). I don't know if she returns in the books or not, but I imagine Maryann's on her way out of the show for now. Which is too bad, because the actress playing her is having so much fun with the role, and I love that.
What is happening to the actor playing Bill? He's not looking good at all. And he hasn't been able to do anything interesting on the show in ages. And the Vampire Queen...wow. A stunningly bad actress in a completely boring role. Did HBO slash their casting budget or something?

The Jason / Drunk Cop make up saved an otherwise worthless episode.
This show suffers from Harry Potter syndrome. People (Sookie) have these great powers, only when it is convenient. If the story requires peril, no powers, if they need to get out of peril, powers come back. The ultimate in lazy writing. Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it. |

I know I crap on the show every week, but damnit, this is Alan Ball doing sex and vampires. The show should be the greatest thing to ever grace television. Instead it schlocky crap that is only watchable for the camp value.
I think I deserve to be pissed off about that. I put my faith in Alan Ball and he rewards that faith with giant turds week after week. I can't not watch though.
