Definitely see it!!! BUT, try and find a version that has the correct original theatrical English subtitles. The American DVD that came out in March has overly simplified English subtitles which lose a lot in translation. The English dubbed language track on the DVD is correct I've heard, but I generally can't stand watching dubbed films. The British DVD and international Swedish DVD have the correct English subtitles so find one of those. Read about the wrong subtitles story here: http://iconsoffright.com/...in_to.html I enjoyed that movie it's been playing on one of my movie channels lately. They're making an actual english version of the movie too i believe [Edited 8/2/09 19:37pm] 12/05/2011

I never understand why great movies have to be remade. It kind of misses the point, eh?

I found "Let the Right One In" to be a nice story and a good film, but didn't love it to the heights that it was hyped. Enjoyed it for the moment but nothing about it really stayed with me.
I think I might have preferred the story as a novel. [Edited 8/3/09 0:16am]

I think I might have preferred the story as a novel. I'm lucky I never saw any hype, I enjoyed the quiet of it the book is great, explains a lot of things the movie couldn't essentially I saw it as a movie about bullying and friendship, any vampirism was purely incidental

I was expecting a scary ("chilling"-scary, like El Orfanato, or Devil's Backbone rather than guts or "jump" scares) movie. Instead I felt it was more dramatic. I did love the pool scene.

I'd seen a trailer and it seemed really nice - I would never have watched it if it was gonna be scary. I was so upset from El Orfanato I cried and cried, practically howling in the cinema

My favorite movies featuring vampires:
1. Shadow Of The Vampire (2000) 2. Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992) 3. Let The Right One In (2008) 4. Near Dark (1987) 5. Vampyr (1932) 6. Habit (1996) Right now I'd rank Thirst just below these.

I'd probably place it at #8 after Thirst. I've never seen Dracula: Pages of a Virgin's Diary. It looks strange.

The entire thing is a ballet, filmed like a silent movie. I saw it on the big screen and the whole thing was quite beautiful.

I'll have to see it again before I'm definite. #9 would be Vampyros Lesbos and if you stretch the boundaries of what constitutes a "vampire film" then Irma Vep could be #10. Those are my top ten vampire movies. I've seen the poster for Pages of a Virgin's Diary, but never knew it was mostly ballet.

Did you watch to the end of the clip where they cut her head off with a shovel? I did tonight! The first time was at work so I was only able to take short peeks of the clip. Being a typical straight man, my first impression was "I'm not sure I can sit through a film that was mostly ballet," but then looking at it from another angle--if I had to watch a ballet, wouldn't an adaptation of Dracula be at the top of the list? That changed my mind and now I really want to see the whole thing! Maybe even BUY it.
