...and want my hair like Prince's during the Lovesexy, Batman, Grafitti Bridge times. What would be best, having it flat ironed or is going more drastic with a perm necessary?

Well if you're black, then you would want to relax your hair, blow dry it and curl it with curling irons or put rollers in it and sit under a dryer.

If you're white simply wash, blow dry and curl with curling irons.

Now if you're swirl, Black/White mix or some other, you may need a combination of things or nothing at all.

All depends on your hair texture.

Don't perm it, just go to a Black salon & tell them what you want (without chemicals)... or have someone who knows how to style hair do it...

If you perm it, just use a really mild one

When I was a kid my mother would get strong perms for me unnecessarily and way too often and it burned really bad, but now that I take care of my own hair I only get a mild perm maybe 5 times a year
