Best movie of the year and one of the best of the decade.

You keep reminding yourself that it's movie, not a documentary or reality show.
There's no gratuitous love interest, although there are love interests.

I hate to sound sexist, but I can't believe this was directed by a woman. I say that because the movie is all about men. She gives these men emotion, that men see in men all the time (but movies never do except the P.C. bs).
She doesn't try to "understand" them, just let's them be.
I want to see it again because I can't believe it is that good.

Oh, Not for children at all. The realism is impressive.
Stretches of tension building silence.
Not a date flick unless you are in the military.
Of course, violent.

Not 'Saving Private Ryan' violent, but with the realism feel it's heightened.

Ive been wanting to see this...thanks 4 the review~~

(BTW..we just came from seeing Transformers 2)...it almost put me to sleep.

I saw it again today and was even more impressed with Kathryn Bigelow. I think a lot of guys are impressed to see actual men in a movie. Men they know.

gotta see this... I know someone that had dinner with the director recently... She used to be married to James Cameron... but is better in my opinion than Cameron.

It's not the frequency of violence that's disturbing. All the violence in this movie is disturbing except the fists.


In the military reference, it would give her some idea of what being over there can be like.
This movie doesn't discuss the politics of the war like 'Three Kings.'
Closer to 'Black Hawk Down' without the Hollywood on it.
