Now HE was a JOURNALIST!! I'm watching all these cable new shows paying tribute to him. If they really want to pay tribute to him, they'll honor him by emulating his journalistic integrity. I know that is asking too much.
RIP Mr. Cronkite, I've missed you for years and I'll miss you even more. I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

I was talking to the English teacher in Summer School yesterday because the class is reading "Tuesdays with Morrie"; Ted Koppel interviwed Morrie Schwarz before his death. I asked if Ted Koppel passed away.
Then we were trying to decide if it was him or Dan Rather who died. So I asked if Walter Kronkite was still living. RIP... "Love Hurts. Your lies, they cut me. Now your words don't mean a thing. I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..." -Cher, "Woman's World"

I heard he was very sick not long before Farrah Fawcett condition worsened, and they pretty much said he wasn't going to last long. RIP and prayers to his family.

I loved David Carridine. Why do you always forget to add him? RIP Grasshopper. Because it's my signature line, and I can put in it whatever I want. Honestly, I had never even heard of David Carridine until he died. I've just changed my signature line, so it doesn't really matter anyway. [Edited 7/17/09 20:19pm] RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

RIP Mr. Cronkite, I've missed you for years and I'll miss you even more. He was a such a fixture, a cornerstone in our lives This was one of the voices that crossed generations, informed us, comforted us in times of upheaval. The thought that gossip outlets like TMZ are now being credited as the new Journalism Central sickens me...just because they broke a celebrity death?? Meanwhile, we have people like like Laura Ling ( her sister Lisa), Anderson Cooper, and countless others who have spent their young lives walking across mine fields, or bringing us to famine, genocide, and other global issues, and nobody pays any attention. I swear, hearing about this makes me feel old and out of touch. I truly wonder if anyone under 30 actually gives a damn about what Walter was to the American people

RIP Mr. Cronkite, I've missed you for years and I'll miss you even more. But seriously, he set a standard that NO ONE can follow. About the closest thing to decent journalism these days is the BBC. I followed them during my two tours of Iraq, and they seemed to have given a better critical account of the war nearly as good as WC did of Vietnam. He was definitely someone I trusted when it came to the news. [Edited 7/18/09 20:10pm]

Mmmm... I thought the BBC had been rocked by a series of ethical scandals in recent years. I'm not in the UK, but I heard echoes.
Anyway, I shouldn't use this thread for my rantings against the media. RIP Mr. Cronkite Smittyrock70 said: HatrinaHaterwitz said: Now HE was a JOURNALIST!!
