An Australian slang term used to indicate another person is soft, easily upset, or just a plain pussy.
also a Newfoundland term for "cry baby" or "whiner". One who sulks.

People who hate summer scare me. It seems depressing since summer allows you to do an entire host of things outdoors you'd never be able to do in winter. I've had friends who hate summer too, and I find they never went kayaking/boating, swimming (too self-conscious about body image), jogging, etc. etc. Perhaps it has something to do with how outdorsy a person is. shrug

But the things I do dislike about summer in Tampa are:

1) mosquitoes at night

2) mold

3) mowing the lawn in the extreme heat

4) Having to choose the right hours to dine outdoors (during our winters, cause they're so mild, we can dine outdoors during daylight hours for lunch, etc.).

5) weeds

6) Alligators get a bit aggressive as late summer = mating season

Honestly, that's all I can think of. I love summer lol

it's not summer that's your problem, it's humidity, try moving to a more arid region, and you'll find a whole new set of problems!

depends on where you live, especially if you can do all those things pretty much all year around, summer practically is pointless.

Yeah, but some people prefer outdoor WINTER activities, such as skiing, ice skating, snowboarding, sledding...
Cold air is invigorating, and those activities are fun. biggrin

The only thing I've ever disliked about summer is the sun. I simply can't be out in it. Last year at Lollapalooza I got sunburned the very first day despite wearing 40+ spf sunblock applied well before going outside, reapplied twice during the day and trying to stick to the shade as much as I could. I probably had 3 hours tops of direct sunlight and I STILL got burned on every bit of exposed skin. I had to buy T shirts to wear for the rest of the festival to cover as much of me as possible as I'd only brought tank tops/spaghetti-strapped tops due to the expected heat.
I wasn't built for the sun.

I've never minded the heat all that much except now that I'm a runner I simply can't run in it. It's no good running in 90 degrees and 90% humidity. My body tells me to eff off. lol The funny thing is, I started running as I can do it for free outside and I wanted to start exercising but avoid paying a gym membership fee. Now I'm finally giving in and joining one next week as I want to KEEP running and this way I'll have somewhere to run (track or treadmill) when it's too hot out to run outside. doh!

I much, much, MUCH preferred jogging around the frozen lake with snow flurries at about 45 degrees than trying to run in the heat we've had this summer.

Humidity. mad

Non air conditioned stores/restaurants. Yesterday I went to two different restaurants and neither of them had the a.c. on so I left. hmph!

NYC subway platform and trains crowded with stinky, sweaty people. ill

The smell of baked garbage (hazard of living in NYC in the summer). barf
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

Not being able to get any time off of work because everybody and their goddamn mother has hogged all the days off because they "might" pick that week to go on vacation. Meanwhile, I'm so stressed out and made to feel guilty when I finally do get time approved. pissed Not to mention the worthless waste of space that called in sick for the whole week because she can't keep up with our new responsibilities. She knew on Monday that she was going to be sick for the whole week? I'm hoping she's recovering from plastic surgery because bitch looks like the fucking mother gorg from Fraggle Rock. She makes you gasp when you look at her.

Sorry, I needed to vent.
