Common sayings people screw up I am interested in some ways that people screw up common sayings. I would like to read examples that people have actually heard.
I have heard people say "if worse comes to first." I had a friend who would always say that we needed to do something ASVP, an interesting hybrid of ASAP and RSVP (which are actually in different languages). I abdicated the throne in Ithaca, but now I am...

* "I could care less" should be "I couldn't care less."
* "Conversate" should be "converse." Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

* "Conversate" should be "converse." I do that ALL the time! That's one of those sayings, that right before I say it, I'm going over it in my head like "ok, which one is it again?", and then I still say it wrong. I used to say conversate when I was a teen, but now I use the proper term. And honestly, it should be conversate. The English language seems so backwards sometimes. I say conversate to be funny, like when I'm imitating some lameass dude that wants to holla: Lame dude: Say, say, say, Chocolate, what chu doin', where you goin' can I holla at chu and conversate a lil bit??? The correct term is "bald-faced lie" - not bold-faced. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

When someone says, "You can contact Lynn or MYSELF..."
(or any time MYSELF is used in these instances) NO!!! It is "Lynn or ME" If you remove "Lynn", you wouldn't say "Contact myself, therefore it's incorrect! "Love Hurts. Your lies, they cut me. Now your words don't mean a thing. I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..." -Cher, "Woman's World"

The rednecks around here say "supposebly" instead of "supposedly".
But the one that makes me cringe is "physical" instead of "fiscal".

Oh - the other one is "present" instead of "president". For some reason, a lot of right-wing talk radio heads say "Present Obama" or "Present Bush".
I guess they just can't wait to spew their hate, and that extra syllable slows them down too much.
