I was sitting on my back step enjoying the breeze and the quiet of the night when my phone rang.

It was my mom. She called to say she had a bit of bad news. My first thought was ohh ohhh what now

Her friend whom she has known for years. They've known each other since I and this woman's older daughter were babies. Anyways..... her younger daughter took her own life tonight

Mom said Paula had been having problems for 3 years, which I did not know, and that the boyfriend and this girl had just split up.

I did not ask mom how Paula took her life, I don't want to know. It has not hit my moms friend yet. My mom has offered any support asked or needed. My moms friend comes to family functions but I have not seen her daughters for years.

So why do I feel ???

I am against people taking their own lives but I guess some people figure it's their only exit door. Or that maybe people going through stuff feel like they are at the bottom of a dark barrel, I dunno.

i'm a firm believer that if they could see the ripple effect of sorrow that
their actions would cause, no one would put their family and friends through it.

I am sorry for your Mom's friend's family! Suicide is a horrible thing that effects so many. My heart breaks for the young woman who felt death was her only option. To feel that alone...makes my heart hurt. I pray now that she has found her peace, and her family can start on a road of healing.

This is one of the darkest aspects of humanity and I'm sad for everyone involved. I hope you and your mom can provide this woman the peace she will obviously need and I hope the two of you can come to a place of peace too

so sad. her mom will need lots of support and she ought not to be alone. if only there were a bonafide cure for all pain.

Depression, mental illness, substance abuse.... all may cause someone to take their life.

Whoa, sorry about the news you received. I can totally understand why you feel so . Full of mixed emotions. I would just be there for your mom and her friend as be supportative as possible. Thats all you can do. I hope you feel better soon.
