66 Year Old pregnant

In a world where the perfect age to be a mother is disputed, many women decide to wait to have babies while others jump in at the first chance. Bristol Palin promotes abstinence and Octo-Mom promotes baby making now a British woman decides to have a baby at the ripe age of 66.

Elizabeth Adeney has told the press "I don't have to defend what I have done. It's between me and my baby and no one else,'' and "It's not my physical age that is important; it's how I feel inside."

In a world where the decisions you make are entirely up to you to make and the doctor you confide in, should we even be surprised to hear news of the like? The oldest reported mother is an Indian woman who gave birth last year at the age of 70. The husband said he didn't care how much money it cost as long as they had an heir.

Many thought I was too young to have a baby but nature has a different book it goes by. When nature is taken out of the picture and science allows women as old as 70 to produce a child, are we not messing with nature itself? Who is to look after the child when the mother ages and dies? I understand people can die at any point but the odds are stacked against a 66 year old to see the child mature past 18

Once nature takes your period away, forget about baby making unless you're carrying for another woman, say a friend or relative. Whose the quack that put the embryo in her?

Honestly though, she won't be falling apart until the kid is at least 20 or 25. It's going to be hard for the child not having younger parents who can keep up mentally or physically but let's be real, 66 is not dead. There are plenty of old guys making babies and noone feels sorry for the kid when his dad is actually his grandpa. Her health during this pregnancy is going to take a beating though and possibly the baby as well. sad

I agree completely. I feel sorry for the child-kids need parents who are physically and mentally able to do all the things they need to be regular kids.

so if I was deaf or mute or maybe had a physical handicap that confined me to a wheel chair- Ishouldn't have a child?

Never said that. Most children are active and they deserve parents who can give them everything they need-physically, mentally and financially. Of course, I would never make such a statement, but it is unfair to have a child when your damn near knocking at heaven's door.

If nature took away your period 20 years prior and you were getting older by the minute, then no...you shouldn't

Exactly what is the point of having children?

In both of the cases of the 66 year old woman and the 70 year old woman, they wanted children for themselves, their own desire (from what I can tell from the initial entry).

You should be physically able and prepared to have kids, which knocks out your first two decades of life, and the latter 5 and a half.

You should be mentally prepared, which can be an issue at any age. People have so many individual problems that they unwittingly let those problems affect the child. Then all of the problems at home transfer into school, and are shown even more in high school.

And you have to be financially prepared to care for the child. Most people live on the brink of losing something. I will speak from experience, things were well at first, but when we started losing our home, cars, and had to live with my parents, slowly my brother and I were blamed for some of the financial crisis (among other drama stuff).

We have teenagers having children just so that they can feel important, almost as if the child is just a pet.

With all of this in perspective, this woman should not have reproduced so late in the game.....and based on her choice, maybe not even earlier in the game.

Having children should mean total selflessness to the future. You are working to clean up what your current generation has caused. She doesn't have that much time to even do so...or to properly guide this child though life. What she is doing is irresponsible.

Then what if the child chooses to do the exact same thing with his/her child?
Let's have a little fun....
If you win, I'll give you 50$
If I win, you have to get a lobotomy.

A win win situation your you.

If she was 66 going on 46 I might not have an issue, but I doubt she is in good enough shape/condition/mental state to take this on. The terrible twos might just do her in. wink

This is vanity and selfishness pure and simple.
