mountain dew throwback

have you had it yet? what did you think?

To my surprise, I didn't care for it as much as I thought I would. I LOVE the vintage logo and all that, very cool. But to me the soda tastes a bit too much like Sierra Mist. Who knew, I actually prefer the high fructose stuff.

but what the hell, I still have 11 cans that might change my mind! razz

Hmmm, well maybe I'll try this one--I really cant stand Mt. Dew, which I think tastes pretty nasty but I like Sprite, so maybe I can do this new Dew...I have tried the Pepsi Throwback--its okay, it kinda reminds me of Diet Pepsi, which I'm not fond of either. I guess I have to get used to the taste of soda sweetened by regular good old fashioned sugar instead of High Fructose Corn Syrup that's usually used for every kind of soft-drink and juice.

I found some more information on the Throwback sodas:

Per Beverage Industry magazine, the names will be Pepsi Throwback and Mountain Dew Throwback:

"In the middle of April, PBV [Pepsi Bottling Ventures] also will begin distributing Pepsi Throwback and Mountain Dew Throwback, which features those brands formulated with sugar."

This is a big deal since mainstream soft drinks in the United States are sweetened with High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS). Typically, the only way to get soda from the "big guys" with real sugar is to import it (i.e., Mexican Coke) or wait till Passover (Kosher Coke, Kosher Pepsi).

Pepsi has been experimenting elsewhere with sugar-sweetened drinks. We reported last February about two such entries… Pepsi Raw in the UK and Mexico's Pepsi Retro. It's nice to see some of this finally coming to the States.

They often have it at Costo (at least in the SF East Bay) and you can find it in most Mexican stores year round.

My crappy Target didn't have 'em yet.

Wendy: He’s a girl, for sure, but he’s not gay. He looked at me like a gay woman would look at another woman. Lisa: Totally. He’s like a fancy lesbian.

Unfortunately I dont think they carry that over in my neck of the woods, and I dont have a Cotsco in my area as well sad

I tried the Mt. Dew throwback, still dont care for the overall taste of it but it is much more tolerable than the regular Mt. Dew that's loaded with the HFCS.
