arrested development - it perfectly bookends the series by mirroring the first episode with the SEC taking them down on a boat, however it turns who's behind it on it's ear brilliantly.
and then caps it with a great meta-gag with ron howard playing himself. Power tends to corrupt; absolute power corrupts absolutely. - Lord Acton

Good ending I disagree. That ending was WHACK but Arthur walking in stating, "It didn't work out" was classic stuff (he really made that show) now they have to deal with him again along with the kids [Edited 4/27/09 13:46pm]

The stuff with 'Nelly Bluth' and then Lindsay finding out she wasn't Michael's sister and coming on to him and Annyong and the banana stand - just genius. Holy crap, do I miss that show! Roseanne- A la "Newhart" and "St Elsewhere", the entire last season and the show itself was all a dream. Dan didn't wake up from that coma, there was no lottery, Jackie was a lesbian, Darlene was with Mark, Becky was with David, and DJ became a film director. The thing I like was that we learned that no amount of money, even if it's a million dollar jackpot can heal the pain of losing a loved one. Only family and a lifetime of memories can begin to help....
Growing Pains-The Seavers move to our nations capital when Maggie gets a new anchor job there. The most poingnant moment was when Maggie comes back to get a forgotten picture, and sees a message that Ben scraped on the wall seven years ago. She looks at it tearfully turns and walks out of the house one last time. The Jamie Foxx Show-Jamie proves he really is a sly fox, goin out on top by having "Jamie" and "Fancy" make it official on their 100th episode. The Cosby Show-How do you close out eight years in the top 10 ? Break the fourth wall by dancing cheek to cheek with your wife off the stage and into TV history. [Edited 4/27/09 12:10pm]

lazycrockett said: Though I will add while I enjoyed the finale of ST:TNG, I think that DS9 did a better job of closure.
ST:TNG was the finale I had in mind. A very nice way to end that series. DS9's finale was good, but the fight between Dukat and Sisko just didn't sit right with me for some reason. Other than that, it was a nice ending, and a very sad one for Jake. M*A*S*H would have been better if Hawkeye didn't tell that woman to kill the chicken/baby, but Alda wanted to ACT.
This was the other finale I was thinking of. I saw it when it originally aired, and I don't think I've seen it since. Just never watched the series enough again to watch at just the right time to catch it again.

I think that was a pivotal moment in my deciding to stop screwing around and pursue my current vocation. I've just finished The Wire. The last season, although good, was sub-par compared to seasons 1-4. Felt it let the side down and took away from the series as a whole. Not so SFU, perfect conclusion. Easily the best ending I've seen. the Wire as a finale was not so great. Especially when almost each season had incredible endings. But still was one of the best shows on television.

Good ending I disagree. That ending was WHACK that is pretty realistic, actually. A lot of couples end up pregnant when they are pursuing adoption or having just adopted. Even when they have been unable to become pregnant up to that point..

1. Golden Girls - Best finale ever!!! I cried buckets and laughed too! Dorothy leaves but keeps coming back in for a group hug!!!! Then finally she doesnt come back and Blanche, Rose and Sophia lose it and hold on to each other.
2. Friends - Many feel it wasnt as great as it could've been but I loved it. I hosted a finale espresso party. I was (still am) a hardcore fan) It was heartbreaking to see Monica's apartment empty...without all the colorful kitch around. When they all walked out one final time it killed me! Beautiful ending. 3. Will & Grace - This one got mixed reactions too but i thought it was well made. It was hard to see that Will and Grace 'broke up' for many years and reuniting when their kids end up living in the same dorm building. Jack and Karen of course...BFF's forever. It was funny to see that they all looked older and Karen looked the same! 4. Sex $ The City - I loved this one as well. Of course she ended up with Big even though she went to Paris with the Russian. Best line of the show was Big telling Carrie 'You came all the way to Paris and got slapped!' LOL The sight of the girls as Carrie walks into the coffee shop was wery moving Every minute of last night is on my face today....

That's EXACTLY what I was going to list when I saw the topic of this post. I actually just saw the 5th season about a month ago (having seen seasons 1-4 when they originally aired on HBO), so I had already heard HOW they were going to end it, but nothing prepared me for the way it impacted me when I actually saw it. I couldn't stop crying for like an hour after I saw that last episode. Especially the music they used in that final sequence, and the way it was shot (...one after the other after the other...). It was the perfect ending to a 5 season series that opened each episode with someone's death. I don't know if there'll ever be another series that will touch me like "Six Feet Under" did.

I forgot about that one. Yes, that was very powerful. The Mary Tyler Moore Show was a huge part of The 70's for me.

I ALWAYS wondered what happened to Edith. I never saw the episode where she died, and never saw any explanation of what happened to her. That must have been a very, very sad episode, I'm going to have to look for it.
