I like symmetry and balance. You used two exclamation marks for your first sentence (re. the thread title in question), four in your second sentence (re. again, the thread title in question) yet only use five exclamation marks for your explanatory sentence actually inside the thread. Now, if you were to exist in a etherial Nirvana-like state of timeless grace and egoless zen, you really should have used six exclamation marks in previously mentioned brief summarisation of your motivation on posting this thread.
Don't even get me started on the lols. And go back to America.

Yeah
Surely someone has discovered than deleting 57,310 books from their listings would bring amazon big profits

I think the issue is that not all books with gay subject matter are "adult." If somebody -- or their computers -- equated the two, that is perhaps a problem in and of itself. [Edited 4/14/09 15:44pm] Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

[Edited 4/14/09 15:44pm] You are right that not all gay subject matter is adult subject matter. When I read this story I thought that there was some "adult" classification on amazon... whose books were all delisted... seems like something much more convoluted happened...

The person who classified all gay books as adult admits they made a mistake.
This is an embarrassing and ham-fisted cataloging error for a company that prides itself on offering complete selection. It has been misreported that the issue was limited to Gay & Lesbian themed titles - in fact, it impacted 57,310 books in a number of broad categories such as Health, Mind & Body, Reproductive & Sexual Medicine, and Erotica. This problem impacted books not just in the United States but globally. It affected not just sales rank but also had the effect of removing the books from Amazon's main product search. Many books have now been fixed and we're in the process of fixing the remainder as quickly as possible, and we intend to implement new measures to make this kind of accident less likely to occur in the future. http://latimesblogs.latim...swirl.html

I'm calling bullshit. It's too much of a coincidence that the deleted books all just happen to be homo fare. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

Don't even get me started on the lols. And go back to America. Actually, 8 would work too in this case And please, not everything is done intentionally. Errors do exist, people. I think that expectation of perfection from everyone is expecting too much. If the error was in another related subject that is less of a controversy, so to speak, no one would've doubted it was an error, so why now? The fact they have tried to correct this so quickly, makes me believe it wasn't done intentionally, or at least not intentionally by people in charge. [Edited 4/15/09 9:16am]
