Foreign words & Phrases that sound funny to you

OK, whether you're french, English, Thai, German, etc. etc., I think most of us find words used in other languages often funny.

As low brow as this is ausfahrt (german word for 'exit') is still a ridiculously funny word to me giggle
"Take a turn at the ass-fart" we like to say giggle neutral disbelief giggle

But I just realize when when I order Thai food, I ask them to make everything "very spicy", which in Thai is.....

is....

PET MACH
giggle

Pet Mach giggle

Get it? Pet Mach whip ky ??? Get it? lol

neutral Get it? neutral

No, brake=brakes on a car or bike etc ....break= end/damage, your definition would be to stop moving the fast whereas the original would mean to end as in break a vow.

If tortured English is your bag, I guess so.

I'll stick with the traditional (correct) usage.

Well, lots of words are pronounced in ways that differ from how they look. Pronouncing "break" as "brek" is pretty logical when you're talking about a language that can get "Peggy" out of "Margaret." Or compare it to sergeant, colonel, and women. shrug
