girls who like boys who look like girls

So...explain this to me.

You know the evolutionary theories of sexual attraction that say heterosexual women tend to look for a particular male body type and personality because of their evolved needs? And that type is, according to those evolutionary behaviourists that put forth this theory, large and with noticeably masculine secondary sex traits.

My question is, what about those heterosexual (and for the sake of the argument, though I realize that's probably beginning to delve into other theories, bisexual) women who find smaller, more effeminate men sexy? confuse

Think Prince, Bowie, Jonathan Rhys Meyers in Velvet Goldmine, Brian Molko, Marilyn Manson, Gackt, and various others. All these men have legions of women trying to get in their well-fitting pants, but at best they only kinda fit into the so-called masculine ideal. I don't think it's an issue of money or fame either, because I've seen this pattern happen in real life often enough too. As long as the fella in question is at least partially interested in women while he's donning M.A.C. and lace, somewhere some woman's going to want to jump his skinny lil bones.

I can admit I am occasionally one of these girls who digs boys who look like girls, but that doesn't mean it makes any more sense to me.

How is this explained? Does anyone know?

I prefer men who are small and have a nice mixture of both masculine and feminine "features". Although lateley I am more and more attracted to men who are more masculine.

Men who have feminine features are very secure with themselves. I find nothing more appealing and attractive than a guy who doesn't care about what others think and can express his looks as they see fit.

There is my explanation why men who look female are attractive and women and love them.

I didn't say all these men are necessarily pretty. lol

Just that when you factor in the long hair, makeup, flashy/girly/androgynous clothes, it all stacks up to something other than what's considered a masculine appearance. Manson's got women all over the world clamouring for his skinny ass. I'm asking why.

lol

That's why I added bisexual women as an aside in my question, because it does get into other issues. I'm asking more in regards women that identify as straight.

I know they do. I'm asking, in relation to evolutionary theories of sexual attraction, why it happens.

Interesting question.

To me, it's like asking, "Why are some people homosexual?". In both cases, you have a segment of the population who are attracted to something outside of the norm.

I suppose this would be akin to asking why some gay males like trannys? confuse

I suppose.

I know I'm probably not the best person to try to tackle this question, since as well as liking certain boys who look like girls I also happen to like actual girls.

What is up with women that don't like men who have a scraggly look to them. And furthermore.....how many Niancos are there out there? This one gal once told me I resemble Bruno from "Fame". I was surprised it wasn't Leroy she likened me to, instead. hmmm

Do you think you looked more feminine when you had the long dreads?

As I said I prefer man who are not too masculine. The man I love is not tall (woot! lol) , but quite masculine and I guess the reason why I still fell for him is that he has long dreads which add at least one feminine feature.

I don't think that's quite the scientific rationale.

I just think it's interesting that so much work has gone into figuring out why standardly attractive people are so to heterosexual men and women, and not much into why there would be deviations from that norm, whether it's sexual orientation or people's differing ideas of sexiness.

Oh I agree that it's very interesting.
I just mean some folk are bound to over analyze. I think specific tastes (even when they are "gender"-oriented can be completely independent of sexual preference.

The evolutionary theories explain what the "average" heterosexual woman finds attractive in men. Those of us who deviate from the norm are being ignored.
There must be some factors that motivate some women to feel attracted to girl-like men.

My mom likes men that look like Shawn Connery. I like feminine men like Prince.
