www.astartewoman.com is another cool bbw-size clothing company, but more expensive. I just really like the name. The Normal Whores Club

DKNY $179 I've no clue what sizes or range. Have I seen pics of you? But if not that, what about a variation on that? Polka Dots are in so you'd be current as opposed to wearing something that screams Mother of Bride or Wedding (since it's not "formal"). A nice variation might be nice wide-legged black slacks (dressy, not casual ones) with a nice polka dot top in the vein of that dress.

It's not like if wearing vertical stripe tights or somethng. But polka dots are allowed. For the most part it's not pattern that makes the difference in looking larger or slimmer, it's the CUT of a garment. [Edited 3/31/09 11:08am]

Also, you might not get the chance to get your Lovesexy on for another 20 years! I totally kid about the Lovesexy thing. DO NOT put a Lovesex outfit together for your daughters wedding!!!! DO NOT!

For the most part it's not pattern that makes the difference in looking larger or slimmer, it's the CUT of a garment. And actually...dots are slimming because they keep your eye busy - roaming over the pattern and not falling on any particular area of the body. I'd keep it to a fairly simple colorway - black/white, navy/white, red/white. White dots on a darker ground will always be more slimming. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Yeah but big dots like those in that pic make you look huge, smaller dots are better. I agree with white dots on the darker background though. The empire waist is a good idea for her body type too. I love this. The pant shown is a bit too casual (the zipper) IMO, but this dress can be worn very sharply to a casual wedding and then re-worn a lot different ways after.

I know what you're saying about the size of the dots, but I don't think that is an unbreakable rule, or an across the board absolute. I think what a pattern does and doesn't do is over-analyzed. If you're a size 20 the size of a dot is not gonna make you look a size 10 or a size 26. It's more important whether the pattern is flattering to the individual and, most importantly, their personal style. "Slimming" is overrated. I think a lot of women loose sight of individual style because they will only consider what they are told is acceptable for their size instead of dressing in well-fitting clothing that showcases their individual (and curvy) beauty.

You also want to think about scale. A tiny dot pattern on a larger woman will be out of scale - and will just make her look bigger. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
