Do you own a Portable GPS navigation device for your Car? Can you give me recommendations for a good Portable GPS system? I want to hear from people who actually have on and us it on the regular.
What kind do you have? How much did you pay for it (U.S. dollars)? What are your likes and dislikes with your GPS unit?

Yep
TOTOM WM6 on my phone, superb Have had other TOMTOM devices and Garmin. Garmin are better units for proper navigation via long and lat ...(flying or out in the sticks no road nav) but if you want roads only then go TOMTOM. Easy, touch screen piece of piss

I have a TomTom. Got it at walmart for a little over 100 hundred dollars.
I like it because it talks and it tells me which direction my next turn will be. Its easy to set. It let me down once,I was traveling to an area that was under heavy construction and it sent me to an area that no longer exists. But I fixed that after I plugged it into the computer to update the maps. "Nobody makes me bleed my own blood...NOBODY!"

My car (2006 Mazda 6 sport) came equipped with a GPS console, but from what I've heard Tom Tom is a good aftermarket setup... He was like a cock who thought the sun had risen to hear him crow.
(George Eliot) the video for the above... http://www.youtube.com/wa...re=related

I have a Garmin Nuvi. I like it very much. Paid 150, but I think it's cheaper now. If you're not doing the fucking, then you're taking one.

+1 I've driven around with the TomTom One, it fell out in (even very short) tunnels, was slow (in renavigating and/or finding sats) ... didn't like it Now the Garmin Nuvi, it's fast, is reliable, has an easy update feature and I got it for €99 .

I want a GPS sender to attach to Uzie when we're REALLY out in the middle of nowhere, she'd come back on her own every time but I'm worrying about if she'd hurt herself, ya know like breaking a leg or get stuck in a hole.

I recently bought a Navigon 2100 Max, after doing quite a bit of research, and have been really pleased with it so far.
It was only around $140 and includes life-time traffic updates. The receiver for the traffic reports is included in the car-charger, where it's a separate purchase for a lot of other devices. Oops, forgot the link: http://navigonusa.com/pro.../2100-max/ [Edited 3/27/09 17:16pm]
