I have always been a canon man so i lean that way, the D90 is a great camera though. I am sticking with Canon because all my lenses fit.
I tend to go get it in my hand in a shop then shop online and find it cheaper lol

well ive been reading that buying it online can cause all kinds of problems, either waiting a long time to have it delivered, broken when you get it, having it be a returned item sold as new, difficulties returning it if need be shrug there was a lot of reasons, made me nervous about getting it online.

the books all say its best to buy it in person - i guess i would go to best buy. im sure there are other stores that would be cheaper though. if i knew where a Kmart was, i'd try there, seems they are cheaper.

In honesty i have never had a problem buying online just make sure it is a legit retailer and the items are listed as new boxed. At the end of the day though you need to feel comfortable hug

the main problem is grey imports - if you buy from Hong Kong (on ebay) for example, you won't get a US warranty, so you have to send your camera back over there to be fixed - check if the reseller is on the list of authorised dealers on that brand's website.

Buy from B&H Photo

My best advice is put money into your LENSES. Megapixels have NOTHING to do with image quality. Megapixels have everything to do with how large you can print your final image. Nothing more. So, don't be fooled by the marketing hype.

The first question you have to ask yourself is what will you be using it for? Then you can shop accordingly.

So, what do you plan on shooting?

I would buy the 5D Mark II before the 1D. It has a full frame sensor too, but it also shoots HD video and an insanely high (if not exactly professionally useable) ISO of 25,600. eek

well, for sure the kids, my family, my pets, that kinda stuff... actually, im thinking of doing some senior pictures around here, theres no local competition, it would be sweet to get in for something like that.

i want to do some macro work, i love the way that stuff looks!

i will be using it for a lot of outdoor photography, soon there will be travel times where im gonna need a good camera.

generally, im thinking it will become a good hobby, perhaps there will be a money opportunity that i can find. i want very, very clear pictures with the ability to manipulate them in many different ways...

i remember you saying about the lenses, and i have looked a lot at those, but im unsure of where to start with the body. also, i want the higher pixels if i am going to be blowing something up, right? or, if i want to do a lot of cropping...

any ideas you have would be great. btw, what do you think of the nikon D90?

You can print a 16x20 from an 8 megapixel image, so don't worry too much about that. You shouldn't have to do EXTREME cropping if you are shooting the image right in the camera, a habit you should develop early. Some cropping is fine, but try to fill your frame as you shoot instead of relying on post process cropping.

The D90 would absolutely flip the bill. Or, you could even go with the 80 to save a little money. I can't stress enough, put your money in your LENSES. Bodies wear out. New bodies with better features and cheaper price tags come out literally every year. If you spend $1500+ on a lens, you can bet that you will probably be using that lens for the rest of your life. Not even mentioning the FAR superior images they create. You can have an $8000 body, but with a $300 lens on it, the images look just as cheap.

AWESOME advice!! thanks hun...

im gonna be looking at what type of lens to get, those buggers are expensive! especially because i want so many different ones... i want a great mid-range one for most shots, but then i want the telephoto one to shoot far away, then i want one for macro shots sigh i want it all! lol...

since you are so good at advice, can i pick your brain and ask what your thoughts are on the lens issue? really, im ready to invest in this, i think im gonna end up with some extra money soon lol, and frankly, i deserve it after all this crazy shit! help me spend some money jersey!!!!! yay!

I have a D80, I'm reasonably happy with it nod except when taking low-light shots, then I get very angry at the noise even at 800ISO mad
