I hope she makes it, some reports say she's brain dead , [Edited 3/18/09 1:21am] My goodness! Oh this is so sad. My thoughts and prayers go out to her, her friends, and family. I do not want to scare anyone, but I had friends whose daughter died after a similar accident. It is the only funeral for a child I have ever had to attend. It's the only child I have ever known dying. What happened was the little girl went down a slide head first, hitting her head. She was stunned, but not unconscious, so my friend (the mother) didn't see any reason to take her to hospital. Well..what happened was the little girl develop symptoms later that night. And they took her to the emergency room, but she died later. Of course, they wished they had taken her after the accident happened, but they had no clue the injury was as serious. How horrible. Makes me think of all the little bumps and mini-accidents my daughter has. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

Doctors say it is very common for people to bump their heads just a bit and still die. Makes you wonder how people like Evil Kenieval lived so long.
First, there is pressure on the brain--when that happens there is a blood clot, usually that kind of thing is hard to heal. Her waiting an hour was a very bad idea. If this happens to you, seek medical help, don't end up like this. ----- The media should be killed for reporting that she was near death so quick, with no proof. They say she may not recover, but that's different than saying she is nearly dead. Shameful. Just to get a fucking scoop. Awful. All you others say Hell Yea!!

Latest >> Liz Smith Says Star Taken Off Life Support
PopEater posted: 1 HOUR 17 MINUTES AGO(March 17) - Natasha Richardson's family has huddled together at a New York City hospital that's treating the award-winning actress for a serious head injury sustained after an incident on a Quebec ski slope. In the two days since the accident, scores of conflicting reports have surfaced about Richardson's condition, most sources coming to the conclusion that the beloved wife of Liam Neeson has been rendered brain dead. Now, famed gossip columnist and friend of the family Liz Smith is reporting that Richardson's family took the star off of life support at 1:30 PM ET today. "This is not unexpected," Smith writes in her column on wowowow.com. "Insiders felt yesterday, on learning they were flying Natasha in to Lenox Hill, that this meant her condition was hopeless and they were just finding a place to be together with her and to say good-bye." A family friend that asked to remain anonymous told PEOPLE a similarly grim assessment. "There is no chance. It is a fact that her heart is beating but she is brain dead." Skip over this content On Tuesday, before she was flown to New York, the Toronto Star spotted the star's husband, Liam Neeson, crouched inside the back of an ambulance at Montreal's Sacre-Coeur hospital as Richardson, wrapped in blankets and with tubes covering her face, was loaded inside. Sources told TMZ that during Richardson's ambulance ride to New York's Lenox Hill Hospital, she was "unconscious," her pupils "non-reactive," and she was suffering from "major head trauma." Later that evening, a somber looking Vanessa Redgrave, Richardson's mother, was seen walking into Lenox Hill Hospital in New York. Because the family has remained closely guarded with their words, little information on Richardson's true condition have been scarce, leaving the media to dig for news. The New York Post quotes friends of the actress that also claim the star is in fact brain dead and that she is being moved to New York to be taken off life support. TMZ earlier reported that she may be suffering from brain swelling. The 45-year-old 'Nell' star and wife of Liam Neeson was brought to a Montreal hospital for treatment on Monday evening, as first reported by PEOPLE and IrishCentral.com. A ski patrol source told TMZ that Richardson was having a private lesson on a beginner slope and fell. Two ski patrollers came to her rescue and said there was no blood and no sign of impact. She got up and said she was fine, smiling and making jokes. The Gazette reports that Richardson was not wearing a ski helmet when she fell. "She seemed to be fine and had no obvious injuries," resort spokeswoman Lyne Lortie told Radio-Canada. The patrol members escorted her back to the hotel and recommended she see a doctor. "She walked back to her room, she insisted on going back to her room. About an hour later the instructor -- who had stayed with her to make sure everything was all right -- noticed that Ms. Richardson was not feeling well and called an ambulance," Lortie said. "There were no signs of impact and no blood, nothing," Mont Tremblant spokeswoman Catherine Lacasse said. At that point, she was taken to the hospital but was conscious when she left the resort. Lortie said she was surprised by reports of a serious head injury because Richardson "spoke without any confusion, she knew where she was, she was in full control of herself ... there was no visible injury, no sign of impact." Neeson left the set of the film 'Chloe' in Toronto to be with his wife, a rep for the movie announced on Monday night. "We do not have any details at this time but we hope for the best and our thoughts and prayers are with Natasha and Liam and their family," the statement read. Richardson won a Tony award in 1998 for her role in 'Cabaret' and has numerous film credits including 'The Parent Trap' with Dennis Quaid, 'Blow Dry' and Ethan Hawke's 'Chelsea Walls.' She is the daughter of legendary actress Vanessa Redgrave and producer Tony Richardson and has been married to Neeson since 1994. The couple have two sons. In January, Richardson and her mother played the roles of mother and daughter in a one-night benefit concert version of "A Little Night Music," the Stephen Sondheim-Hugh Wheeler musical, at Studio 54 in New York.

If these latest reports prove true, and if any Stateside memorial services are held for Ms. Richardson, I do hope there's a certain level of hush observed. Such a high-profile death and links to the likes of Tony Richardson and Liam Neeson are exactly the sort of thing *ssholes like Fred Phelps et al look for in stirring up their crap.
When she does go, I hope she rests in peace, and I pray for the family. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

Of all the coincidences in the world, I recently watched her in The Parent Trap with Lindsey Lohan, the only Lohan movie I've ever watched because there was nothing else on, she ( Natasha ) was so beautiful in that role, I wanted to be Dennis Quaid. What could have possibly happen to her that she died so suddenly, this is a total shock. I feel all the empathy in the world for Liam, her mother Ms. Redgrave and her family and friends, what a terrible loss for the acting world. Jeux Sans Frontiers
