I don't know whether this helps, but my little brother used to have similar problems, he couldn't eat with steel cutlery and had some problems with eating meet and other stuff; he was still a small kid back then. We went to see a doctor and he suggested some stress relieving massage therapies, which eventually helped him.

Maybe it's just something in your subconsciousness that depresses you; everyone has different ways of dealing with such things. Try to evaluate which things bother you, even if it's just little things you usually wouldn't talk about and then try to make these little things that bother you go away. When your body realieses that your mind has realised what was bothering you, it may relax automatically.

I hope you feel better soon! hug

I'm bipolar like you but I don't have a "proper" OCD but I have thoughts instead - I hash things over in my head hundreds of times, all kinds of things - convos I've had (what I could've, should've said differently even though it wasn't any kind of argument), convos I will have (phone calls, potential classes etc) or things that have happened, will happen or might happen. It's crowding me at bedtime and I'm trying to learn relaxation techniques to deal with it, to empty my mind. I'm just saying this
Have you tried or do you know anything about cognitive therapy? It's often very effective and there are great books on it for you to work on yourself. It's hands-on (no pun intended) and should yield quick results.
Two things to think about that might help, tell yourself this: If people ask you why you don't eat pork, just say you don't like the taste. That's all the reason you need, don't ever feel a need to justify yourself.
If you feel weird bringing your own utensils or if people ask, tell them that you're allergic to some metals. Tell them you're better safe than sorry and stick with it. Nobody can prove you wrong and you're not really lying. At the moment, it amounts to allergy. For the time being, try to accept it while you work on it - feeling like an outcast will only make it worse.

I realize some of this could be irrational insofar as we might be dealing with earnest psychological hang-ups, but just what is it that turns y'all off to stainless steel and/or silver cutlery? The feel of the metal? That you can occasionally see fingerprints? What?

I really don't have a good explanation for it, but they make me feel very uneasy. It's completely irrational, but I get this horrid sensation of dread when I try. It's something like people who have arachnophobia experience when they see Charlotte or her children, I suppose.

omfg yes that would be irrational hmmm confuse

This can't be too helpful as I'm just reiterating what's already been said, but unless you're bothered more by the fact you've got these 'tics' than the tics themselves, it seems they're not too distracting.

I practically have both of these persuasions. Meat's a real strange thing to consume. If I were more devoted to preparing my own food, there'd be no need to get my protein from it at all but I'm a complete disaster in the kitchen and loathe cooking.

The veins, the gristle, the discolorations are enough to make me want to vomit as I tear it apart. Just yesterday I was a catered lunch with family and my cousin was poking fun at my dis-assembly of a piece of chicken. It amazes me that people can just put one to their mouth and go to town. After I'm finished, there's more meat on the plate than has been consumed. A waste.

And utensils of any kind irk me as well. I eat a lot of Mexican foods that can be eaten with your hands--tacos, burritos, etc. It just feels so much more safe and satisfying to cut out that exposure before you put it in your mouth.

We're alright, lady. falloff Fuck it.
Oh shit, my hat done fell off

I'll see what I can do about this. It's not too much of a personal hazard yet, I just don't want it to get any worse.

I have never, ever been able to eat off proper silver utensils. Can't even touch it - gives me the shivers.

But I wear silver jewelry. Weird.
