NFL Free Agent Signings - Let's Go Shopping!

The madness starts Friday. The hot rumor is Albert Haynesworth going to the 'Skins. Typical Dan Snider move.

As for the Giants, we need a #1 wideout, and help at linebacker.

As a dedicated Washington fan, even though he's the best player on the market, and could instantly make the 'Skins defense an elite(ish) defense, I would not do it. Even if an uncapped year is approaching. For several reasons.

1. AH hasn't played a full season yet.

2. He's not an every down player.

3. The Redskins' free agent record has been mixed at best.

4. The Redskins need a stock of talent, not a big prize. Unless AH can play cover corner or protect Jason Campbell, there's no use putting quarterback money into one player.

The Redskins need to restock both lines of scrimmage, WRs with height and hands, and cover corners. They should address overall need in 2009 and 2010.

Dear Uncle Al, please get:

- 2 WRs - Housh & Marv (as a teacher and possession cat)

- 1 Backup QB VERY capable of starting

- 2 OLs that can actually block

- Get a REAL fucking coach and KEEP him for more than 1 season

Thanks.

P.S. - Relenquish your power so all this can be possible.

They also gave CB DeAngelo Hall $54mil over six years.

As for the Raiders, what real coach wants to work for Al Davis? Raiders will turn things around when Al goes to that big Raider stadium in the sky.

I was surprised the Jets released Coles. I bet he winds up in Miami with his boy Chad.

Giants handled their business, getting the big fella Jacobs signed. thumbs up!

I won't have 2 worry about my team spending any money. They "think" they have a good team. The Bears are sorry in every way.

They haven't had a franchise guy at QB since Reagan was president.

Why are they always taking a play-not-to-lose approach?

That wouldn't be a wise move - Ray's 34 and wants a lot of money. Plus I just heard the Jets are going after Kemoeatu from the Steelers.

Because all they really care about is making money, and they make plenty of that. They need an owner who cares about winning.

Ray Lewis will NOT be coming back to the Ravens...no word on his destination(could be Dallas, Jets, who knows).

Cardinals and Kurt Warner are at an impasse over his contract.

well here in baltimore...the feeling is so long to bart scott (he ain't worth 8 million..not even close). ray leaving was unheard of at first, but either him or his agent is really fucking things up with their strategy. no team is gonna give 20 million guaranteed to a 34 year old. our center jason brown is leaving too. i mean all the team do was go to the AFC championship game this year. the ravens have lost many defensive players over the years (adalius thomas, ed hartwell (the husband on atlanta housewives), will demps, etc. they all get these huge contracts and get cut the next year. it's the system...like denver and running backs lol

I think Dallas is the only team that would pay Ray Ray that kind of money, expecting him to fix all of their locker room problems. Otherwise, you're right. Lewis may have to sit out there for a while before he realizes his value on the open market.

The Ravens have always been able to build teams from the bottom up. They just seem to have never found The Guy to run the offense and win some games. Flacco seems like he could be it. But my guess is that they, like Pittsburgh, will draft or sign replacement pieces to the defensive puzzle.

How will they deal with the brain drain at DefCoord?

If I were Lawrence Maroney, I'd be looking over my shoulder, because I think if that offense returns to form, Taylor could get them 1000 even with limited touches. He's got one good one left in him.

I think signing Baker is a thumb in the Jets' eye. Plus he's a decent player.

I just read more on the Haynesworth deal. The Washington Redskins, on paper, are paying him Kobe/LeBron type of money, and he'll get 1/3 of that this season. They've signed up to $170 million away in contracts and they're not even done yet. They may be paying more to two defensive players than the entire Steelers defense earns.

Remember Dana Stubblefield? Stubby was as good, if not better, than Haynesworth when he signed with the Skins. He signed a top-line deal for a DT. He then gained weight and didn't live up to expectations. History may repeat itself with 92.

This could work out in the short term. But I don't see why you pay a defensive player who plays 2 of every 3 downs and has missed 22 of 112 games (IIRC) that much.

I read on SI's site Dallas is shopping Roy Williams. I know he's a bit of a head case, but I'd keep him over TO.

Redskins during Snyder era 1999-2008: 76-84

Bears during same period 1999-2008: 80-80

we win.

Record not as important as having an owner that wants 2 WIN.
