oops So it's a bit weird that Val's 1st appt was so - ummm lame - yes ? . [Edited 2/22/09 14:26pm]

Yes, I thought it was lame also but everyone here says that is normal. In the states someone my age would be considered high risk and they would have already done all sorts of tests.

Even a non high risk appt would have been more detailed

here they check urine, blood pressure and send off bloods to get a baseline, so further into the pregnancy they have something to go by.

Even a non high risk appt would have been more detailed I would have thought especially since they did not have any previous history on me, new in the system and all.

Ok.....it is very strange that they aren't doing blood tests, blood pressure, etc. Did they weigh you at least?
The nausea, unfortunately, is something you have to deal with. It's BAD, I know!!!

The nausea, unfortunately, is something you have to deal with. It's BAD, I know!!! Nope. Just asked when my last period was and gave me a packet of paperwork about Immunisations for the baby. Told me the hospital would contact us about the first scan. They sent me a letter telling us the date and time of scan. That is it. Yes, I am glad that I am not vomiting. That is a blessing. Just major motion sickness, drunk room spinning feeling, even in my sleep.

The nausea, unfortunately, is something you have to deal with. It's BAD, I know!!! I'm willing to bet they don't weigh anyone in UK, just like they don't here any more

Exactly - just seems weird to me do you know basically how many weeks you are ? About 9 right now. Had to guess because my period was on time then 7 days later I had two days of heavy bleeding so we are not 100% sure of the exact date of conception. But about 9 weeks now.

They take urine, blood samples, swab test for strep B.
The worst lab test is the sugar drink test They take a few viles of blood before the test and retake after the test. Ohh purple joy oh purple bliss oh purple rapture! REAL MUSIC by REAL MUSICIANS - Prince "I kind of wish there was a reason for Prince to make the site crash more" ~~ Ben |

Yeah, they couldn't figure out my conception date. I had an ultrasound, they measured everything, and set the date to the growth.
