A jogger found Paul Zolezzi's body hanging from monkey bars in a Brooklyn park yesterday morning, the New York Daily News reports. The 30-year-old had updated his Facebook status the night before, saying he was "born in San Francisco, became a shooting star over everywhere, ended his life in Brooklyn… And couldn't have asked for more". The eerie statement, posted at 8.40pm the night before, appears to have been a suicide note. His mother Stephanie told the Daily News her son had been depressed since a failed relationship that ended two years ago. "I would say that people get so lonely, so delusional, that all they want to do is be remembered, " Mrs Zolezzi said. "He probably wanted to be remembered in a big way, to do it dramatically — that's what drugs will do to people." Zolezzi, who had tried his hand at both acting and modelling, often used the site to tell people about how he was feeling. "Paul is wondering, what unspeakable act did I do in a previous life to deserve this one," he wrote in one update last month. On his final update, a seemingly clueless friend mistook the update for a joke and replied "Are you dying? Or just staying (sic) Brooklyn? I hope it's the latter?". | |
