I'm going to give up some of my laziness ( I really haven't been wanting to do much of anything once I get home from work/ school lately lol sigh) and make myself do some type of physical activity for at least an hour a day for lent.

Catholics aren't the only ones that celebrate Lent in some way, and the posts I'm referring to aren't specifically anti-Catholic.

Seriously.

I'm not catholic, I'm a kinda wonky Baptist, but I have participated, and failed, Lent in the last few years.
I think I gave up Prince last year and lasted about 20 days until the radio killed that. And the year before last...it was candy...but that was BS because I hardly even eat that much candy. lol
What shall I choose this year...?

shrug

Some people can only validate themselves by putting others down. I think there's a term for that but it doesn't come to mind.

I'm agnostic, but since we're raising the kids Catholic, then I abstain from meat on Fridays. But like thekidsgirl posted earlier, even in Catholic school I never gave up anything for Lent.

Nada. Not religious and even if I was, the church I was raised in promoted self-reflection and contemplation over self-denial for Lent.

Self-righteous bollocks. I'm allowed to critizise anything I please using any manner of expression - the thought was validated in my mind before the sentence was written so me expressing my view in writing certainly doesn't help to solidify the belief in my head. I never put anyone down either, just the blanket common conciousness of pious thought.
My contempt for Catholisism and all forms of thought-fascism is what I build my moral foundations upon, just like some believe they'll dance eternally with Jesus in Heaven if they don't wank. If I was so damning of Nazism or Communism - similar retardations of the vulnerable human mindset - no-one would blink an eyelid. To me, it's six and half-a-dozen.

Now why on Earth would you try to give up Prince. You set yourself up for failure. lol But really, I don't think I've ever made it 40 days. But I think I'm going to put up a real effort this time. My self-discipline in SOME areas is definitely improving. pray
