I club only once a year, when my friends all go back home to Cleveland for Christmas and I get together with my one gay pal. There's a joint where I can go, dance when/if I want (a rarity), disappear into a corner and have a decent meal while people-watching, catch a Sunday night drag show, or shoot the breeze at the bar and alternately watch a ball game or sing along to show tunes. lol Also, the crowd is pretty mixed, so everyone feels at home regardless of age, income, beauty, ethnicity, sexual orientation, etc.

I love that atmosphere of variety. But I suspect bigger cities, like where I am now, are forced by competition into claiming tighter niches and more defined cliques... which I find stifling.

nod Started when I was 19 and was hitting the gay bars at least 3 times a week. I am much less self conscious when I am with "family". Straight clubs seem to just be a bunch of pretentious people and of course, the beautiful ones. I never felt like I fit in.

I like clubs and enjoying going out when I wanna see certain djs.

-the whole exclusivity of waiting in line and paying "just to get in"
Don't have to wait in line. Guest lists are awesome. Never have to pay either.

-dress code conditions (granted its not like im barefoot wit a wife beater, but i cant have tims on cuz why? and i gotta throw away my chain? fuck yo establishment)
Dress codes don't really matter for chicks.

-mandatory coat check (more $)
Don't have to - coats go straight to the dj booth

-all the drinks are like 2 times their normal price, and im already tryna get drunk to forget how mad i am for having to be there (see: party)
Ya, that sucks. It's always nice when dudes wanna buy you drinks

-you get in and girls only dance in circles wit they friends and look at you like a dick for expecting to meet new people in an environment catering to social interaction; and the guys are looking over your shoulder like predators
Never noticed this kinda thing. Most shows I go to are not shows where people are trying to pick up.

-did i mention in a "good club" you're usually shoulder to shoulder?
True

and even if you do meet someone ...you gotta scream over the music
That doesn't bother me

OH YEAH and the music is like top 10 radio on repeat
I never go to top 40 clubs - ever.

For me, it totally depends on the club and the location of the club for me. The only club experiences I have enjoyed have been when I went outside the USA. In the USA, I prefer bar/lounge.

I love the little clubs where you can hear really good live music up close and personal. The bigger clubs not so much anymore, but I am surrounded by people who love them so even if I don't go I always hear good stories.

I just hate it when you go out to a nightclub, or even out to a concert for that matter and you really have to raise your voice over the music JUST to speak to the person standin next to you. disbelief

The last time I went out to a club was about 2004 and at one point I took this girl outside cuz I wanted to get her number. I think it shocked the hell outta her that I wanted to speak to her like a nice, normal, civilized human being.

Anyways I never got with her...found out she was into poppin pills & smokin weed. Plus she laughed in my face when I approached her. That ain't right. disbelief

Nowadays the only club I go to is The Basement in Circular Quay. Nothin but live music.

Plus, the first time I went there I saw PRINCE do an aftershow with Maceo & Larry G.

Also I met Patrice Rushen & Lee Ritenour there last year....

and PM Dawn the year before that.

Yeah, yeah, stop braggin, I know. lol

I can't even remember the last time I went to a club. I do remember one club a few years back, but it was more about dancing & drugs than clothes.

I LOVE clubbing! The NUMBER ONE thing I hate at gay clubs is that "stand at the bar and be a model" bullshit. You can stand pretty at home. I go out to fuck the floor up dancing jig dancing jig

Before I met my partner I was always at the clubs (hanging out or for work, performing).

Now I'm a homebody.
I much rather have friends over for dinner parties, or bbq's and cocktails.

Only really hit a club for "Prince-folk" gatherings anymore.

Anyone that's a bonafide "clubber" after the age of 30 needs to seriously check where they're at in life. Clubs CAN'T be that damn crucial to one's existence after 30.

The same exact shit I said already! lol

I used to bang clubs. I stopped at 25 because there ain't shit at the club. It's the same shit that was there at age 19, 21, 23, 25, 27, 29. Only the artists have changed. It's the same wanna-be crowds at every club, and I grew up in L.A. and due to my job and affiliations, I was able to peep the major club scene, and even when I lived in Houston and Dallas. I got tired of that shit real fast.

After 30, it's time to hang up the "club life" and move on. Now, I'm not saying to NEVER go to a club again, but "clubbers" know what I mean and who I'm talking about. Don't make the shit an "every-damn-weekend thang" and certainly don't make it a WEEKDAY thang! lol

I'm too old for the club scene these days. boogie Back in the 1990s I'd hit the clubs, but I wanted to dance and meet hot chicks, not get drunk. I didn't like the whole standing in line thing, and I hated paying $20.00 just to get in the club or $5.00 for a beer (though sometimes I'd get to host a party at some clubs for free). Nevertheless, I quit going to clubs sometime around 1998, mostly because I got tired of the scene, but partly because the music was either Euro trance or slow hip-hop. I'm not really a bar person either, because those places are all about drinking and getting smashed. I'll go to a bar to watch playoff sporing events, but otherwise I just stay away.

Me and my boys used to go almost every weekend when we were in are early 20's, not so much now. We would have competition's to see who could pull most woman, LOL!! alot of funny moments there. It was always five of us so are main objective was to find an equal group of ladies who came together and see if they were down to party that night outside the club, more of a private one LOL!! There's alotta of stories I could tell with that last one! Let's just say I learned back then that One-Night Stands aren't all that!
