Blair Witch is better on DVD than in the theatre. I got motion sickness watching it in the theatre.

The original japanese version of 'The Ring' (Ringu) is the most scary film that I've ever watched - Sadako is infinitely more terrifying than Samara and the cursed video is much more scary, too.

Ring 0, the prequel is also good.

not horror scary, but THE THING (just about the last time John Carpenter was any good) will have you climbing the walls - the tension was so bad my flatmate just walked into the room at a crucial bit and i literally fell on the floor in shock/fright.
