Ladies: Would you dress sexier at work to get a promotion?

From the NY Daily News:

Study: 1/3 women happy to dress provocatively in hopes of promotion, bonus

By Catey Hill

Short skirt. Check.

Low cut blouse. Check.

Promotion. Check, check.

A new study finds that nearly one-third of women are happy to dress provocatively to help them get a bonus or promotion, according to the Daily Mail.

27% of women said they would happily wear slightly risque clothing in an attempt to climb the career ladder, the Daily Mail reported. One in twenty said they did this on a regular basis.

Women believe that clothing matters to their jobs:

* 78% said that what they wear affects their day at work
* 54% said that dressing up helped them do a better job
* 61% think that what they wear helps them garner respect from their colleagues

'The research proves that what you wear to work can really affect your success rate. This relates to both accomplishing more during 9-5 and even climbing the career ladder quicker too,' a spokeswomen for www.theragtrade.com, the fashion Web site that conducted the study, told the Daily Mail.

I was just thinking about this, how a professional suit for a woman shows more skin--arms, legs, neck & chest. now why was I thinking about that... razz

It works. How you dress definitely has an impact, as much as we'd like to believe otherwise.

Yeeeeah....no.

I'm a bigger lady. I can't pull that mess off unless we're talking cleave. And I never show cleave unless I'm out with a guy I dig and I want to tease him with a little feminine charm. Other than that, I'd rather show my brains off than my butt or boobs. And trust me on this; I've seen my share of sexy work outfits on women wanting promotions. I guess it depends on where you work, but um...those women did NOT get promotions. If anything, they just got some nasty stuff attached to their names. Even if I did have the body, I think it would be a lot better for a woman to get promoted for her brain. Sadly, that might be a stretch for some companies. (which is stupid, really...)

But your looks and how you present yourself defintiely have an impact. I think there's a difference between sexy and trashy. Trashy has no place in a corporate setting, but a little bit of sexy in a suit can make all the difference.

It works both ways. Nobody wants to see man's cleavage, obviously, but if he looks great at work it can't hurt. We sell ourselves, sell product, make impressions, communicate, spend time together.

Any pleasing quality a person can offer is going to help them succeed.

Don't most women consider a man being well-dressed and a man dressing sexy the same thing? lol Unless he's in his underwear, how would a man dress sexy, but not be considered well-dressed? For women, it would be a lot more obvious.

The way I look at it is if a woman has to dress 'provocatively' (as the article
suggests) in order to get a promotion, then maybe she really doesn't deserve one.

I'm not saying that a woman shouldn't dress nicely...but provacatively is a
whole nuther story, not really meant for the workplace.

In my humble opinion, of course lol

When I worked at the bank there was this MILF who would have her run of the bank because her tits were always in the face of every man that worked there. One day she traipses up to my window, batting her fake lashes and thrusting her gigantic boobs through my little teller doors for me to help her. I just ignored her cuz I didn't give a shit about her mountains. She was pissed lol

I would dress more professional.
But sexier no.

But then everyone has their own definition of sexy.
What I consider more professional, a boss may think is more sexy.
Say it's just a dream...
U open up ur eyes and come 2 realize
u simply imagined this
So u lean over and give her a kiss
Here on earth, here on earth,
with u it's not so bad
Here on earth, here on earth
eye don't feel so sad
Stay right here

I can dress sexy without showing off skin or wearing tight clothes. You can make yourself be more approachable by the way you behave. Body language can say a lot.
Eye contact, good posture, a mean walk and a warm smile can set off any polished look.
