I'm a big believer in 'In Vino Veritas'. So if someone uses 'being drunk' to explain away something nasty they did, I tend to think that it's their true character showing through a veneer of bullshit.

I meant the average person who gets drunk and starts fights, steals things, cheats on or abuses their significant other - that kind of stuff - and then tries to explain it away.

And nasty as opposed to stupid, as we've probably all done stooopid things when drunk. I certainly have. (Nothing too nasty though)
