Too much fast food places and too much "trickery food" (foods that spose to be low on calories but really aren't).
Then there's also a way to ride to everywhere. I been to the US a few times and ppl will ride the bus 3 blocks to where they wanna go

But I'll say the biggest contribution to this is the availability of fast foods and because it's more tasty to most, most ppl will rather buy those than something healthy.
